Good condition, good value
Greens and bunkers are in good shape
Staff was friendly and greeted with a smile
Had a good time playing Wolf with fellow golfers
Staff didn’t show up
Sunrise at 6:45 and staff didn’t show up till 7:15 causing a major backlog / delay. Never in my many years have I had an experience like that.
Monday Swing
Nice overcast day. Course wasn't crowded. Great Pace. Staff very friendly. Course in good shape. Mowers were out and respectful of play. Good Job BM
If you miss the fairway your ball will get eaten up.
GREAT public option on ATL's south side
Brown's Mill did not disappoint on a mid-July morning with heavy dew. It's consistently a well-conditioned public course, and the layout isn't overly taxing but there's enough challenge and hole variety to keep most golfers interested. Things I liked: 1) the course was open by 7am so I could get 18 done by 10am; 2) a few holes I love: the fun elevated tee shot on 1, the long, uphill par 4 3rd, the short dogleg 5th, the reachable but well-guarded par 5 10th; 3) the folks I've met who play here are super nice--and let's be honest, most courses have only white folks playing, but BM looks like ATL. The cart paths are new, which is nice, but I walked (and it's a GREAT walking course--holes right next to each other). Definitely my favorite 18-hole City of Atlanta course.
Best Community Course?
They recently read it all the cart paths and the course was un great condition today.
Hidden Gem
We played this course because another course we planned to play was under repair. We were pleasantly surprised with Browns Mill. Brand new golf cart paths, great course conditions. And plenty of other amenities under construction, it appears. We will definitely play this course again.
Steady Improvements
I only played the front 9 but from what I saw they are slowly improving the course. Greens in good shape, Cart path and parking lot have been repaved. new bathrooms like the other city owned courses. Only things that I would say they could improve upon is grass clippings in the fairway and having a starter to keep things in order at the first hole. I'll keep playing this course though because it's nice and I'm liking the improvements.
Not Recommended
Course was recommended by a friend in our industry. What we experienced:
Front door - dirty
Floors & front area - dirty
Male cashier not helpful or friendly
No bar or restaurant area
Bathrooms were nice
Holes or direction to course was missing or not labeled
Our cart had holes in the seat from wear and tear as did the other ones offered to us
Grounds had grass clippings which made it difficult to play.
Grass on greens was high and in the fairway
Driving range interfered with the 1st hole - safety issue
Very disappointed
Too many unpleasant recurring problems
I have played this course many times, but only once recently.. The time before last when I booked it, I showed up and discovered it was walking only, something I cannot do with a bad knee. Yesterday when I arrived I discovered I had to play the front nine twice.. There definitely needs to be a way to learn these issues ahead of time. However, the habitual problem is pace. THE COURSE REALLY NEEDS A MARSHAL. . Yesterday I played behind a walker who wouldn't let me play through. after he quit and i drove up to the first tee (for the second nine) a twosome was just getting started . They too appeared oblivious to letting a single play ahead.. I used to like the course, but I'm through!
Steady improvement over twenty years
Newly paved cart paths. improved bunkers with more improvements to come. resilient and well-maintained greens. Very decent fairways. Landscaping is improving. Greens keepers are under-appreciated. Superintendent Tyrone is top+notch and his team is finding it's stride, most notably Veronica, Solomon, Clark, Dennis, and all the rest. Keep up the great work everyone.
Postscript, the No.2 tee box has been restored. Bravo!
Course conditions
Tee boxes were in good condition. Fairways , bunkers, and greens are in very good condition too. Play and enjoy this public course
