About
Although Chateau Elan Golf Club & Resort is just 40 minutes from Atlanta, the panoramic views of the north Georgia foothills make it feel much further from the city. The club boasts two public championship courses and a nine-hole course as well as The Legends, a private golf club. In addition to the golf, Chateau Elan is also home to a full production winery. The Chateau Course is one of the public championship golf courses. The layout wanders across 170 acres, winding around a lake and two creeks. Water, not surprisingly, comes into play on more than half of the holes but there are also 87 bunkers strategically placed throughout to watch out for. There is thick Bermuda rough bordering the contoured fairways too. It is more open than the slightly more challenging Woodlands Course, the other public championship golf course.

Disappointed
I give the course decent stars only because of nostalgia for the course. For the money Chateau Elan Resort brings in, the course has got to be better. I used to play the Chateau Course a lot years ago and the price was fantastic; especially in the winter season. Although it’s winter time, there were some rough spots on the course. Fairways had some bare patches in spots, sand lacking in some bunkers, greens were a touch slow but in good shape. Overall, Chateau needs to bring the price down or make sure the course is in great shape year around. Pick one or the other. Not to mention their halfway house is NEVER open. Good layout and nice houses to look at though. Also, the range is awful right now too, have you hitting off bare spots.
Good shape
The course was in good shape considering the recent weather several courses in the area still had snow on them. That effected the pace of play which was to be expected plus they had a frost delay oh well still got to playgolf
Really Enjoyed it
Despite the insane rain the few days prior, we really enjoyed getting out on the Chateau course. Nice layout, especially the back 9. Greens rolled really well despite the rain from several days. Definitely will go back.
Nice Course in Very Good Condition
With nobody in front of us, we played the round in a little over 3:40. Overall course conditions were very good considering the time of year. Greens were fast and true.
Just Ok
Course is very nice but for a first-time player, there is nothing to tell you what is coming up. No course layout, nothing on the scorecard or the tee markers and you are just playing blind far too often. Also played behind the slowest twosome I have ever encountered. Overall just an OK round.
Overpriced Resort Course
No Starter, no Marshals. Bare bones carts in bad shape. Bald tires, water in the roof slashing around, no GPS. Our cart died on the 13th hole. Called Pro Shop and they said someone will deliver us a cart. That did not happen. We had to walk to the club house and get another cart. In 45 years of playing, I have never had any course do this to us. This was unbelievable! We had to skip a hole just to make this happen and it still jammed up the group behind us . After the round, we spoke with someone else that had their cart die. I guess since the resort has a captive audience, they simply don't care. Even the scorecard was the cheapest and most confusing I have ever seen. It seems they are trying to save every penny they take in.
