About
Although Chateau Elan Golf Club & Resort is just 40 minutes from Atlanta, the panoramic views of the north Georgia foothills make it feel much further from the city. The club boasts two public championship courses and a nine-hole course as well as The Legends, a private golf club. In addition to the golf, Chateau Elan is also home to a full production winery. The Chateau Course is one of the public championship golf courses. The layout wanders across 170 acres, winding around a lake and two creeks. Water, not surprisingly, comes into play on more than half of the holes but there are also 87 bunkers strategically placed throughout to watch out for. There is thick Bermuda rough bordering the contoured fairways too. It is more open than the slightly more challenging Woodlands Course, the other public championship golf course.

Beautiful Course
I was surprised at how nice this course is. Everything was top notch. Clubhouse , greens, fairways.. The greens are fast but fair and roll nice.There are two things that I really must mention in regards to the beauty of this course. First are the trees on this course. There are so many amazingly beautiful trees that it needs to be mentioned. The next thing is the houses on this course, they are exquisite!! My only complaint is that they had no starter and the course got pretty jammed up about halfway through.
A quick outing
I have played Chateau Elan several times. This course was in excellent condition. The greens were great and the fairways were beautiful. Highly recommend
Nice
Course was in good shape. Greens are challenging. Played from Gold tees that is apparently the equivalent of the White tees. Need to be strategic on some holes.
FAST!
I played some of the best golf I have all year, problem was I three putted every other hole. The greens are in amazing condition and are super fast. I guess they are prepping for the US Open.
Mixed opinion on our review.
Mixed opinion on our review. The par 39 hole course we played on Tuesday was horrible. No water. No pool cart. No riding cart. No way to return to the hotel. We booked on the Internet and there was no information that this was going to be the case. I believe you have bare bones because of Covid. Wednesday’s Chateau Course was filled with branches; workmen; huge machines cutting down trees. That was a big turn off and disappointment
Sanded Greens
The course was in very good condition, however there were quite a few landing areas in fairways where people didn't replace their divots, nor put sand in them after the fact. The course was excellent otherwise, the layout is very nice as well. I do wish When I checked in, the pro shop had told me the greens had been sanded. It made for a very tough putting round. I'll still scored an 80 from the green teas after taking a triple on 17... Overall, I love the course and area.
Sanded Greens
I played on 4/19/2021, I have played here before and very impressed with the course layout. It is not very long, however, the course is always kept in very good condition. I just wish when I went to check in that the pro shop would have told me they had just sanded the greens. It made for a very rough day for putting and greenside chipping.
Great day on Course
Course is in good shape and greening up nicely. Absolutely no complaints. Greens roll good but are hard , fairways have good grass and playing well. A couple weeks and everything will be awesome. Pace of play was awesome for a Saturday and staff was very friendly. Highly recommend this course
