Chateau Elan Golf Club - Chateau Course
About
Although Chateau Elan Golf Club & Resort is just 40 minutes from Atlanta, the panoramic views of the north Georgia foothills make it feel much further from the city. The club boasts two public championship courses and a nine-hole course as well as The Legends, a private golf club. In addition to the golf, Chateau Elan is also home to a full production winery. The Chateau Course is one of the public championship golf courses. The layout wanders across 170 acres, winding around a lake and two creeks. Water, not surprisingly, comes into play on more than half of the holes but there are also 87 bunkers strategically placed throughout to watch out for. There is thick Bermuda rough bordering the contoured fairways too. It is more open than the slightly more challenging Woodlands Course, the other public championship golf course.

Last minute T time
I decided at the last minute to get a t time because they called for nice weather. Upon checking in , the person at the front desk greeted me kindly and handed me a cart key. I teed of about ten minutes early. The course was in very good shape for winter gold. The greens were recently painted and rolled true and fast. Overall it was a great round of golf at a great location. Couldn’t ask for more.
Nice course
We knew it'd be soggy & it was but a beautiful course. Greens were barely wet, nice & fast.
Pace was slow as expected but not terrible.
Kinda bummed they didnt have bev/snack cart going around.
Will play again.
Not Bad For Winter
The course is normally in really good condition, but the tee boxes were in really rough shape and need some work.
By the spring or summer it will hopefully be back up to good course conditions, but for now it’s a bit rough. The prices could be a little lower for winter rounds.
Fun Day at the Chateau
Two of us played with two regulars. They were extremely helpful in course layout. Pace was spot on. My game needs some help but the course was better than expected.
Great time out there
First time play of this course but it was awesome and fun and a beautiful way to spend a Saturday.
Course was in great condition for the winter
Very Challenging in my opinion of course it does matter what tees you play from to really grasp the difficulty. Its pricey for the area but the only course that had a morning tee time. We had fun and will be back!
Solid
This is a classic golf course, traditional in nature. The greens were fantastic, fast and true. The fairways were very thin and muddier than I would have thought, as we had not had a ton of rain lately. For $40, it was a fabulous deal. For the full rate of $75+, I would have been very disappointed.
Very friendly staff.
Great December day at 65 degrees
Like this course very much. Some forgiving holes on front and back, some challenging ones on back for sure.
Great layout of holes.
Course was in excellent condition especially this time of the year.
The course was very well maintained including leaves blown from fairway. Especially good that leaves are not in fairway this time of the year. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Will defiantly play this course again.
Enjoyable
Played on a beautiful cool late fall early winter day. The course was a little soggy in some area's, not the fault of the staff but to be expected this time of year.
I love to play this course, probably my favorite in North
Georgia. The only other complaint I have is the lack of a starter at the first tee. It was kind of chaotic with golfers tryptophan figure out who was up next. Also no ranger to control pace of play. We were behind a foursome of younger golfers that were spending way too much time looking for lost balls and not in a hurry to take their shots or leave the green. In all fairness to the course I have played here other times of the year and they did have starters and rangers maybe they cut back this time of year? Overall enjoyed the day and will definitely be back.
Chateau Course
My wife surprised me with a trip to Chateau Elan for golf, dinner, wine and a couples massage. We started things off with a round on the Chateau Course. The layout is pretty wide open for the most part, but you still have to be smart and selective with your shots and club choices. The greens were in good condition and rolled with good pace. Will definitely be back to play again and to check out The Woodlands course.
