About
Although Chateau Elan Golf Club & Resort is just 40 minutes from Atlanta, the panoramic views of the north Georgia foothills make it feel much further from the city. The club boasts two public championship courses and a nine-hole course as well as The Legends, a private golf club. In addition to the golf, Chateau Elan is also home to a full production winery. The Chateau Course is one of the public championship golf courses. The layout wanders across 170 acres, winding around a lake and two creeks. Water, not surprisingly, comes into play on more than half of the holes but there are also 87 bunkers strategically placed throughout to watch out for. There is thick Bermuda rough bordering the contoured fairways too. It is more open than the slightly more challenging Woodlands Course, the other public championship golf course.

Great course w few hazards
Great course. We’re beginners and found the course challenging but not impossible. There are hazards but if you play reasonably well it’s quite open. Hilly with beautiful landscaping. Considering we played on a very wet day, conditions were great.
Great course
I recently played the Chateau course, and it was in great shape. The tee boxes were green and well kept; fairways were also green, recently mowed, and consistent; greens were in excellent condition, rolled smooth, green and mostly divot free; cart paths are smooth and generally in good shape. The one area that needs attention is the bunkers. They had not been raked after last night’s rain and were wet, a few of them had landscape material exposed, and a few had sand spilling over the edge into the fairway/rough. Pace of play was average on a busy Memorial Day weekend, which was a pleasant surprise.
The staff was courteous and gave us individualized attention to ensure there was a cart in good shape for us before we started the round. There was no course marshal (that we saw) to keep the pace on schedule, but we finished in just over 4 hours, and we only stopped to wait a few times for the group ahead throughout the round.

Never Disappoints
One of the best courses in the Atlanta area. Always in great shape. Good mix of challenging and moderate holes.
Need Rangers
Need rangers to improve pace of play.
No military discount unless active duty. When I was on active duty, I was not around to play.
Solid Chateau
The courses at Chateau consistently provide good conditions. While February is not the best time of the year to rate any course, conditions were more than acceptable for winter. Playing late twilight, the course was wide open allowing me to play 9 holes in 80 minutes. Price was a little high for the amount of golf I could squeeze in. A super twilight time would be nice, but that’s probably not going to be something you’ll see at a Troon managed course.
Very slow
No ranger on course even though we called an hour plus before we finished. 5 hour round and should have been an hour plus shorter. Slow pace was ridiculous.
