Although Chateau Elan Golf Club & Resort is just 40 minutes from Atlanta, the panoramic views of the north Georgia foothills make it feel much further from the city. The club boasts two public championship courses and a nine-hole course as well as The Legends, a private golf club. In addition to the golf, Chateau Elan is also home to a full production winery. The Chateau Course is one of the public championship golf courses. The layout wanders across 170 acres, winding around a lake and two creeks. Water, not surprisingly, comes into play on more than half of the holes but there are also 87 bunkers strategically placed throughout to watch out for. There is thick Bermuda rough bordering the contoured fairways too. It is more open than the slightly more challenging Woodlands Course, the other public championship golf course.

Little bang lots of buck

Let me start with this round cost me $163 after tax. Included in that was the privilege to pay for a bucket of range balls, a driving range without out grassy spots that was clearly not cleaned up the night before, cups that haven’t been cut in at least a week, a cart that flags stops you from driving in a “restricted area” even though you’re on the cart path, and no water on the course. The staff was friendly, but for the price, I could’ve gone to top golf and been more satisfied with the outcome.

Vintage Chateau

The kinder, gentler course at Chateau Elan. It offers plenty of challenges but less punishing than the Woodlands. Course was in good condition. Greens were true.

Above average course

Course in good to great shape, from tees to greens. Played @ 2:00 pm & pace of play good. GPS on carts a plus. Need water coolers on course & the one ball washer I used was dry.

Got a good deal on GN w/ percentage off.

Course was in great shape. Local knowledge is helpful with some greens as they have a lot of tiers and undulations in them. You have to miss is the tight spots. Greens were probably between 8-10 on the stemp and rolled pretty true.

Enjoyable day

The Chateau course at Chateau Elan was a very fair course. It didn’t overly penalize you for a missed shot. Most balls could be found if barely off the fairway. The rough was manageable. Some of the tee boxes weren’t in great shape where the tee markers were located. The tee markers could’ve been relocated at the beginning of the day on some of the par 3’s. The grain on the greens was pretty strong. Seemed as some putts broke up hill due to the grain. Overall, an enjoyable round.

Good layout and good value but needs a little improvement

Course layout is really good except for not being able to drive cart on 17 which makes it hard to know what club to take. Greens still slow from aeration. Range balls are just plain bad! Bunkers are not maintained. I was in one bunker and I would bet it had not been maintained in months! A few more maintenance dollars and this would be a really nice course!

TeeTom

Love the course, great layout, really fun to play. The pace was awful unbelievably slow, no course Marshall’s to be found. We had at least 5 or 6 twosome backed up the hole round. As bad and as slow as it was I will play again.

Great layout! Micro-aeration had been done, but greens still rolling well and very receptive. A tee-box for every level golfer! Great amenities!

Tee to green is solid - greens are terrible

As a low handicapper it’s hard to enjoy a golf course with greens this bad. I almost started putting with a 3 wood. Tee to green was solid but the greens were rolling absolutely not the slightest over a 6 on the stimp

Played both courses - very fun and challenging

Awesome time playing both courses back to back. Great conditions. Only downfall was food at the clubhouse after the rounds was very slow - took about 2hrs to get drinks food and pay the check. Didn’t see cart girl on Woodlands which may be normal - prepare ahead with that in mind. Other than that - our two groups had a great time spending 12hrs on property all day.

Chateau Elan

Greens recently cored, not leveled couldn’t get any thing resembling a true roll. Every putt bounced its way to the hole regardless of distance to hole.

Surprised how poor the greens remain in late June

The rate reflected the fact that the greens were punched in early June. I thought they would have improved in over 2 weeks but they were still terrible..

Otherwise the course in playing hard and fast..

Some good holes 11 to 15 are best
