Chateau Elan Golf Club - Chateau Course

About
Although Chateau Elan Golf Club & Resort is just 40 minutes from Atlanta, the panoramic views of the north Georgia foothills make it feel much further from the city. The club boasts two public championship courses and a nine-hole course as well as The Legends, a private golf club. In addition to the golf, Chateau Elan is also home to a full production winery. The Chateau Course is one of the public championship golf courses. The layout wanders across 170 acres, winding around a lake and two creeks. Water, not surprisingly, comes into play on more than half of the holes but there are also 87 bunkers strategically placed throughout to watch out for. There is thick Bermuda rough bordering the contoured fairways too. It is more open than the slightly more challenging Woodlands Course, the other public championship golf course.

This was the #13 green if i'm not mistaken. Can see how nice the sand bunkers were and how nice the green was. Photo submitted by bryan6804634 on 09/16/2016
Slightly quirky but largely enjoyable
The original golf course at this pleasant winery/resort northeast of Atlanta has the bulbous shaping and grandiose bunkering that many of its contemporaries share, but a tendency towards generous playing corridors makes it a very serviceable resort golf course, as do its good conditioning and its welcoming people. The course switches between hilly and flat river-bottom holes, with the last third featuring the its most memorable holes, including the awkward down-then-up par-4 17th before a long, stately par-4 finisher.
Beautiful
I have played the Woodland course and have never played the Château course and I was thoroughly impressed!! It was very scenic and challenging. The greens were really rolling when I played it as well. Will definitely be back!
Great time
Friendly staff
Highly recommend playing here at least once
Course was in great condition
Golf cart quitting in the middle of a round
Overall the course was in good condition and pace of play was tolerable. However, the golf carts apparently have defective GPS systems that cause them to alarm and even TOTALLY SHUT DOWN when they are being driven ON A CART PATH, not just once, but repeatedly . When I asked someone in the pro shop about this, they said that they were fully aware that their carts were stranding golfers in the middle of the course on dead carts but clearly could have cared less. When asked what they planned to do about it, the employee said “eventually the GPS company would figure it out”. Meanwhile…good luck. !!
This course was great and comfort
This course was great, nice and comfort.
I was very happy during playing golf with my family.
I will strongly recommend this golf course to my friends.
Very good golf course
We fully enjoyed this golf course yesterday with my family.
This golf course was very nice, fantastic and beautiful!!!
We want to come again soon…
Gear
How have we never played here! We love 40 min away.
Now we'll return a lot.
It's lovely.
Little bang lots of buck
Let me start with this round cost me $163 after tax. Included in that was the privilege to pay for a bucket of range balls, a driving range without out grassy spots that was clearly not cleaned up the night before, cups that haven’t been cut in at least a week, a cart that flags stops you from driving in a “restricted area” even though you’re on the cart path, and no water on the course. The staff was friendly, but for the price, I could’ve gone to top golf and been more satisfied with the outcome.
Vintage Chateau
The kinder, gentler course at Chateau Elan. It offers plenty of challenges but less punishing than the Woodlands. Course was in good condition. Greens were true.
Above average course
Course in good to great shape, from tees to greens. Played @ 2:00 pm & pace of play good. GPS on carts a plus. Need water coolers on course & the one ball washer I used was dry.
Got a good deal on GN w/ percentage off.
