Gilroy Golf Course
About
It might not have a lot of competition, but Gilroy Golf Course dubs itself as the "Best 11-Hole Golf Course in America." Built by local farmers and businessmen in 1923, this unique 11-hole routing east of Santa Cruz features small greens and wide, tree-lined fairways set along the Uvas Valley that has changed very little since its founding. Though not a full 18, the golf course is still plenty challenging, including the 245-yard par-3 8th hole, a scenic tee shot considered to be the course's signature. Gilroy Golf Course has suitable BBQ and outing facilities for larger groups.

Classic course in Santa Clara County
Rainy conditions for most of the prior week made the course a bit soupy. However, CA needs the rain so it was welcomed. This is a course which shares several of the greens with multiple tees, thereby creating 18 holes with little more land than needed for 9 holes. Interesting why more courses are not designed in this manner. Played during the week so there were no crowds but suspect it could get a bit tedious on a full weekend. Nice people here and enjoyable experience.
Great course for the money
wonderful day. course was still wet from the recent rains, cart path only in effect. Wonderful, helpful staff
The course is very well kept
I like the course very challenging ! I would recommend this course to anyone who is a golfer! Good is great people are just as great!
A friendly place to play
The greens are in good shape but small. The challenge is hitting the greens in regulation. Once there the putting is Ok. The pace of play is good and it is not hard to get a tee time.
Amazing deals and enjoyable golf
First time playing here. I was totally unfamiliar with the course and the staff along with local players took the time to show me a bit. I played relatively early 7:45am and the course was in good shape, tricky greens and I got an awesome deal on golfnow.com for $10 with a cart.
I'm definitely going back!
This course is well maintained greens ferways
We play very often this course but need cart paths
Misleading Listing - CART NOT INCLUDED IN PRICE
The course details on Golf Now are wrong. The price you list is for walking rate only and does not include a cart. The other problem with this course is that you have to play the same 9 twice and on the second time around you get groups, who many times are very slow, starting their front nine in front of you and you have to wait forever to get the back nine completed.
I will only play nine holes in the future.
course is very challenging and requires some shot making ability.
I would actually give it 4 1/2 stars for overall value. 4 for difficulty.
Good value and Pro is super friendly
Good condition except for a couple of greens. Good pace of play. Friendly atmosphere.
tricky greens
Some very interesting holes. Greens in good shape and can be very deceptive
This course is a very good challenge.
The course was in excellent condition, except for two greens.
Nice course
I left after 1 hr 45 minutes at the 6th T box, worst golf experience ever, when I compalined at the club house they basically ignored me, I would never play here again
Great Historical Value
Consideng that its the 1st Golf Course in Santa Clara County is already a memorable experience. It's unique design to complete 18holes is somewhat confusing for first timer, but negligable.
Played only 9holes because play was so slow.
Course booked a tournament just prior to our tee time. It took three and a half hours to play nine holes so we quit after just nine holes.
Great course for the Price
Good course. Well maintained and great views. The price is excellent.
Enjoyable
Enjoyable. Challenging lies. Very well maintained greens with undulations making it a real challenge to two-putt or less.
Greens need some love
If I were to pay full price for this course I probably wouldn't play here. Greens need some attention with one having a huge sand mound right in the middle.
Playing the 7 holes twice is kinda weird but works for this course with the tee lay outs. Overall it was a good experience for a small course that is not one of your big named courses in the area.
The staff was very nice when I called and needed to add a fourth to my reservation, it was not an issue to move us back to the next tee time to allow the additional player.
Great weather with fun challenges
I really like this 11-hole course for its great value and good challenges. Not the most technical course in the world, but the elevation changes really make you think about you are doing. Distance control and game management skills come in handy if you want to score. Great challenge if you take the time to appreciate what the course offers you. My only complaint is having to hit off a mat on the 17th tee, which doesn't really allow you to work the ball left to right as necessary due to the narrow opening and the slight dog leg that leads to the green, but otherwise, you won't get any complaints from me. I love to frequent this course along with my other regular Golf Now spots like Pajaro Valley, Rancho Canada, Monterey Pines, Laguna Seca and Salinas Fairways.
Good for the $$
This course has some holes for me and my driver. It was not crowded. The price was right. It was a challenge for me and a lot of fun. There are a couple of holes that are great!
Overpriced for what it is
Thus course has the absolute worst tee boxes I've ever seen, not even close to being level. The driving range is pitiful, and I hit a long ball (330-360) so I have to be careful not to hit anyone that is walking to the next tee at the end of the range. The range tees were like hitting out of a mud puddle, glad I decided to dress halfway decent and have my pants covered in mud just warming up. Disgusting!!!! If your on 17 be careful of the people playing 8 because you share a green with no way to communicate who us where, bring a helmet. I will never play here again nor recommend to anyone. Oh and to the guy in the pro shop( if that's what they call it) it's not pebble beach
