About
Chateau Elan boasts three public courses, two championship courses and a nine-hole course, as well as a private golf club, The Legends. The Woodlands Course is one of the public courses. It is considered the most scenic of the three championship layouts with stunning views of the north Georgia foothills and a landscape of sparkling lakes and towering trees. Of the two public championship golf courses, the Woodlands is considered to be slightly more challenging thanks to several tree-lined holes that require a fair amount of accuracy. The rolling terrain provides plenty of elevation changes, so be prepared for some tricky blind shots. The lakes and ponds dotting the course come into play on several holes as well. Although it enjoys a beautiful mountain setting, Chateau Elan is conveniently only 40 minutes from Atlanta.

Worth the drive from metro Atlanta
The course has rolling fairways with good undulations and plenty of movement left to right. The greens are large and rolled smooth with good speed. The practice par 3, chipping and putting green area was a very welcome treat as there was a large tournament going off of the Chateau course and the driving range was tied up with their group. 3 of 4 par 3' have good length and #2 is framed with a challenging hazard. There is a halfway house on #8 tee with bathrooms but no food or drink service and no beverage cart was on the course this day and staff had notified me about this but there are water coolers on the course. I got a sandwich and drinks for my cart cooler at Sarazan's their lounge before I teed off so all good there.
I would recommend if you can get out earlier in the day to do so. When I finished my round, the tournament had not finished and people where waiting on carts to play their 2pm rounds. Very happy with the course and will return in the future.
Great challenging course
Great course that provides a challenging layout with fast greens. Staff was friendly. My cart did die a little before I got back to the clubhouse.

Good but not great
I played here for my birthday on the 6th. For the value? Well, let just say I did not see any cart person the whole round we played. The course was in good condition and the layout was pretty cool. I think I like the Chateau course better. Although, I did get to see some cool homes. But, what was bad is after round we decide to eat there. We sat at the bar and I saw 5 workers but only was taking our orders? Took longer then it need to get our orders put in. Definitely need work for the value for playing there.

Great course
Excellent course in very good conditions.
The carts have to be 20 plus years old, ours died on 16....our 2nd cart had to push us in.
Overall though great time again.

Enjoyable Day
Enjoyed the course. The employee that checked us in literally said we are all good and gave us the keys to the carts. Never asked have you been here before? We had to ask him where is the first hole? Get a cart just out front?
Play was slow due to the foursome in front of us but played in 4 hours. Nice course. I would play again.

Sad
It was sad to see this course was no longer the beautiful course it obviously once was. Attention to detail has lapsed and the snacks on the drink cart were lacking and stale.

No Starter on course
My 3 some played the. round in 3:30 minutes today but had numerous single and two golfers hit into us today. I feel like our pace was more than adequate...Not sure why the pro shop didnt require these people to pair up . How do you let multiple singles go out without being paired . They were driving all over your course skiping holes coming back. Not a pleasant experience. The course as always was a great track

Minimal Effect Management
So let me start by saying that I play across the state, also I have played Woodlands before, but today was a rough day for the price. When paying over $100 for a round there are certain levels of service anticipated. Below are two main issues:
1: Give it was a Sat mid day we only saw a cart girl on #4 and on #17. Tough when you do not have a half way house on this course.
2: MAIN ISSUE- on 14 we had two separate groups drive right through us for a mid day scramble tournament. Little to no consideration to golfers on the course.
Just tough to accept for such a prestigious course, for that rate on a Sat morning round!

A day out
The fairways and Teebox were in great condition. The greens have just been punch, so that I understand. The pace of play was horrible. We were a twosome, in front of us with another twosome. We only played 15 holes then we quit. I love the course I love condition, a little help with the pace of play it will be an outstanding place
