About
Chateau Elan boasts three public courses, two championship courses and a nine-hole course, as well as a private golf club, The Legends. The Woodlands Course is one of the public courses. It is considered the most scenic of the three championship layouts with stunning views of the north Georgia foothills and a landscape of sparkling lakes and towering trees. Of the two public championship golf courses, the Woodlands is considered to be slightly more challenging thanks to several tree-lined holes that require a fair amount of accuracy. The rolling terrain provides plenty of elevation changes, so be prepared for some tricky blind shots. The lakes and ponds dotting the course come into play on several holes as well. Although it enjoys a beautiful mountain setting, Chateau Elan is conveniently only 40 minutes from Atlanta.

Woodlands Delivers
This is a solid course on its own and complements the Chateau course quite well. It’s more demanding than Chateau and conditions have improved with the ongoing improvements to the resort property.

Great All Around Course!
First time playing and it did not disappoint. Conditions were fantastic, pace of play was sub 4 hours and I will definitely be back!

The course is in excellent shape especially with the lack of rain in the area. Greens are near perfect & rolling fast! Enjoyed the round!

4:30 start right on time. Played in 3 and a half hours. Course in very good condition. Greens were aerated but very small punch holes so still rolled pretty well. Just a little slow but that's expected after aeration.

If I had known
If I had known that the greens were just punched I would not have played, If I had know that there was somewhat of a (small) tournament ahead of me I would not have played. No excuse for the pace of play and not excuse that there was no marshal to speed things up.

Way overpriced for what you get
For $100 a round, I expect a course in pristine condition, a friendly helpful staff, and a well managed pace of play.
The course conditions range from poor to fair, never great in my experience. The pace if play is a joke, and Rangers are as rare as Bigfoot and the starter is either non-existant or don't care.
You're paying $50 for a round of golf plus an extra $50 for the pretentious atmosphere. Considering I can play for half the price on a better maintained and managed course within 10 miles, I'll go elsewhere every time.

Too expensive for a good course
The pro shop didn’t explain anything like where the first tees were nor pin placement. I paid $95 on a Sunday which I’m willing to do often but at that price we should have a bag drop with cart people putting bags on a cart and ask”is this for first visit with us?” Then they could explain which course I was playing and how to get to first tee. I know the guy in the pro shop knew it was my first time since I asked where to purchase beer for the round

Challenge
The course layout is very tricky, so it cannot be recommended to beginners. Each hole needs its own strategy to keep the handy. You cannot be boring due to the craft layout.

Solid beautiful course
Great scenery. Greens and fairways in great condition. Challenging. For nearly $100, range balls should be free! Hard to find hazards since no gps video on board cart or hole pictures on scorecard. Overall a great course.

Great round
This course has just the right amount of bunkers and water to keep you focused but still fair enough for the average handicap. The woodland course is lined with trees on most hole but isn’t too narrow like I thought it might be.

Greens are horrendous
I asked about the course condition and was told it was "great". Greens had been punched and weren't cut. They were unusable. We quit. It was that bad. The Chateau course, however, was in better condition.
