Chateau Elan Golf Club - Woodlands Course
About
Chateau Elan boasts three public courses, two championship courses and a nine-hole course, as well as a private golf club, The Legends. The Woodlands Course is one of the public courses. It is considered the most scenic of the three championship layouts with stunning views of the north Georgia foothills and a landscape of sparkling lakes and towering trees. Of the two public championship golf courses, the Woodlands is considered to be slightly more challenging thanks to several tree-lined holes that require a fair amount of accuracy. The rolling terrain provides plenty of elevation changes, so be prepared for some tricky blind shots. The lakes and ponds dotting the course come into play on several holes as well. Although it enjoys a beautiful mountain setting, Chateau Elan is conveniently only 40 minutes from Atlanta.

Really a very nice course with great facilities and staff
It is a bit of a splurge to play here, but we thought it was well worth it. The restaurant (Sarazens) provides a good breakfast, the staff was welcoming and friendly, the driving range was very nice and the carts were top notch, and the course was in really good shape for early spring. This course was fairly narrow, with a lot of scenic holes that made for a great round of golf and a great day. We would be happy to play here again.
Cart path only troubles
I can understand the course being cart path only as there were plenty of places where it was soft and wet. Totally fine not driving in those areas. My issue comes with the horrible geofencing of the carts. I believe the geofencing lines were drawn too close to the actual cart path. The other cart in our group stopped every few yards because it for some reason perceived that it was outside the designated boundary. I hope this issue can be resolved soon.
Otherwise it was a nice course and the greens rolled well.
Greens just went through aeration and roughs have quite a bit of hard pan with plenty of rocks and roots.
Hopefully, there will be improvement with the warmer months ominh up and better maintenance.
Some People playing there are obnoxious
This Golf Course is beautiful but there are people destroying the golf course, picking up balls at the range so they can save $9 and some playing the par 3 with buckets of range balls without even paying to play, there’s even a guy who comes everyday in a black lexus with texas plates and one employees (young skinny black guy) comes over to hand him a bunch of free range balls while a bunch of other people go and fill their buckets for free while paying customers wait not to hit them…
Extremely slow groups who won’t let anyone play thru, and nobody cares. It’s like the manager lives in a cave inside the clubhouse! Course is going downhill! Sad but true! I hope they get someone who cares and bring this back to what it used to be!
One of my favs.
Great staff, very accommodating. Soon as I get there they allow me to go straight out, finished round in three hours. Great course, looking forward to playing it in the summer when the grass is green. Nice consistent greens.
nice course but very slow
There were 3 groups in front of me. It was too slow after Hall #9 making me wait for almost 10 minutes for the rest of the course. I think the tee times should be controlled more accurately.
Not friendly
No Starter
Confusing start time
Angry and mad player due to frost delay and start time
For a nice neighborhood course, terrible experience with staff and people
Not a Good Value
I find the course layout okay, though the lack of a flat lie in a fairway can be frustrating. Generally light on staff, and encountered really annoying technology (GPS) glitches with the carts.
BRO…FIX THE CART PATH GPS
Greens were in pretty decent shape. It rained two days ago and the course was still very wet so it was cart path only. We were in the very middle of the cart path and our carts would shut off (this happened at least 40 times and we would have to reverse back down the path that we were already on). I recommend driving the entire path in reverse so you don’t eat the windshield.
Addressed to the Pro Shop: get Ray Charles to re-adjust the gps system to actually make the cart fee worth it
Woodlands for a reason…
I now know why it’s name The Woodlands…I get that’s it’s fall/winter golf, but the amount of leaves on the course was ridiculous. Combine in the cart locking on the cart path multiple times, with having to call the pro shop once to get it unlocked, we stopped after 9 holes. Greens were excellent, pace of play was good and pro shop staff are always great.
