Chateau Elan Golf Club - Woodlands Course
About
Chateau Elan boasts three public courses, two championship courses and a nine-hole course, as well as a private golf club, The Legends. The Woodlands Course is one of the public courses. It is considered the most scenic of the three championship layouts with stunning views of the north Georgia foothills and a landscape of sparkling lakes and towering trees. Of the two public championship golf courses, the Woodlands is considered to be slightly more challenging thanks to several tree-lined holes that require a fair amount of accuracy. The rolling terrain provides plenty of elevation changes, so be prepared for some tricky blind shots. The lakes and ponds dotting the course come into play on several holes as well. Although it enjoys a beautiful mountain setting, Chateau Elan is conveniently only 40 minutes from Atlanta.

Not it.
We played the Woodlands for the first time and were very underwhelmed. For the money we could have played much nicer courses in the area. We got a hot deal for $85 on a Friday and could not imagine paying full price or posted weekend rates. We won’t be playing here again.
Lot of miscommunications
Extra charge for rider $35. Extra charge for range balls $9. I paid for 2 Green fees at $78 each. Why not throw in some range balls. Would have been nice to know the course doesn’t go back to the clubhouse . Ordered a snack after eighth hole to pick up at the turn only no turn. Girl said it would be waiting for me when I finished. That would be two hours later. I don’t want it then. Best part about the round were the two nice ladies we played with. Phyllis and Cindy.
Not worth 130.00
The greens were in good shape but outside of that this is not worth 130.00 maybe 70.00 - 80.00 max!!
Woodlands @ Chateau Elan
There is a lot to like about the course’s & amenities at Chateau Elan. The staff is great & the clubhouse & restaurant are impressive.
The Woodlands course is both tough & challenging. Bit also fun with some easier holes. It does call for shot placement; but is enjoyable for all skill levels.
The greens had been recently punched; and sometimes the cart would lock down.. for ‘getting off the cart path’ even when you didn’t.. which could be aggravating.
Overall great course & conditions.
Nice round
We knew ahead that the greens had been aerated, but the price was still a little high. We wanted to play but had limited options for a day's notice.
Pace was okay except for the knuckleheads that hit into us on #3. There was a blind tee shot and instead of riding to the top of the hill like we did several times, they just hit. No apologies either.
There are several blind tees shots where the maps or apps don't really help. Pro Shop and snack bar staff were great but the 9th hole doesn't come back to the clubhouse. Be prepared before you tee off.
Overall nice course.
Make us aware of punched greens
It would've been nice to know the greens were punched ahead of our round. The putting green wasn't even punched. I would've also expected a discount on the fee.
Family outing
Had family in town, took them out to the Woodlands. The course was in good condition, green and lush. My only complaints were, they recently aerated the greens, which were super bumpy. They could have charged less than 70$
Great course and facilities!
Only thing I have to add is that the green are full of ball marks making it very difficult to put. The club house should be giving on writing at the time of checking in the rules to follow to be able to play, fixing ball marks on green and fixing divots.
Beautiful course and homes. We live in Hamilton Mill and are members at the club but we enjoy playing other courses. We will be back if we can get another Hot Deal. It was 95 degrees so we will enjoy more in the fall.
Woodlands at Chateau Elan
Got to play the Woodlands course at a special rate which was very nice. The staff was very friendly and the cart girl came by at least 4 times. The course was in good shape for the most part. The Bent Grass greens proved to be a challenge. The greens were a little soft and had numerous ball marks which was understandable with Bent grass here in the South. We also had a couple of rain delays. Overall a good outing with friends.
Disappointing
For all the glowing write up's about Chateau Elan golf we found the course very disappointing. We waited on almost every hole, took 5 hours to play and the course was in poor shape.
Greens condition
The course itself was okay. Decent layout. The course needs to encourage golfers to repair their marks on the greens. I had multiple putts bounce off course because of pretty egregious, unrepaired ball marks.
