Chateau Elan boasts three public courses, two championship courses and a nine-hole course, as well as a private golf club, The Legends. The Woodlands Course is one of the public courses. It is considered the most scenic of the three championship layouts with stunning views of the north Georgia foothills and a landscape of sparkling lakes and towering trees. Of the two public championship golf courses, the Woodlands is considered to be slightly more challenging thanks to several tree-lined holes that require a fair amount of accuracy. The rolling terrain provides plenty of elevation changes, so be prepared for some tricky blind shots. The lakes and ponds dotting the course come into play on several holes as well. Although it enjoys a beautiful mountain setting, Chateau Elan is conveniently only 40 minutes from Atlanta.

Course is a little expensive compared to other similar situated courses.

The price has gone up substantially under new management,. Areas around greens were generally soggy to say the least. that said, the greens themselves were in the best shape that I have seen them. This is a course I have played many times but the increase in price is putting them out of the market.

You'll like this course

Tee boxes are all well maintained. Fairways are closely cut and fairly firm. The rough is fairly penal, as is most bermuda rough around the south due to the serious growing that bermuda did during summer months. You need to find the short grass off the tee to have a go at most pins, otherwise you'll be grinding hard even for your bogie. Greens are good to great, running at between a 10 or 11 on stimp. The practice putting green is super fast and matches the speeds you'll see on the course. They have a very large short game practice are with lots of bunkers, rough short grass to hit onto. The short game are contains two greens. I would recommend this course to anyone (that will put up with driving this far).

Big money

This place has all the trimmings of a high dollar course for a little money. Challenging shots undulating greens that are true and quick. Fun course suggest you pay attention to skill level and tee forward to your level for the most fun

Nice mix of holes. Lots of elevation changes.

Course was well maintained and in very good condition. Greens roll well and were very soft. A couple of rough spots in the fairways, but overall in very good condition. Nice day, nice course. Play here often and this was one of the nicer days as it wasn't too crowded.

The staff is very kind, and the course is great.

I think that the Chateau Elan is one of the most beautiful and comfortable golf courses in Atlanta. Even though I am a member of other golf club, I usually go to the Chateau with my friends once a month.

The course is back looking and playing great.

The course is back looking and playing great. I've played here a few times in the past couple years. The people work there seem nice, the course is fun to play and pretty challenging with a ton of water hazard. It costs me about $45 for weekday now.

An Executive Par 3 Maintained Like a Private Club

A 9 hole par 3 course that plays fast as would be expected. You can knock it out in less than an hour if you're playing solo or take a couple hours with friends. It's great practice for your short game. The putting was delightful as these were the best maintained, truest greens I've played on in a long time. If you've got a round to play at one of the other Chateau courses and are feeling a bit rusty, you might consider taking 90 minutes to warm up on these 9 holes. Longest hole was approx 170yd over water. Most holes are 110-140yd with decent elevation change and a few bunkers / some water in play. It more than delivers what it advertises.

Very challenging, but fair course!

Returning to the Woodlands course after Many years, I found it to be the Challenge that I had remembered. Tight tree lined fairway present a tough test, requiring your A game.

Enjoyable and challenging for all players

The Chateau course is well maintained. The greens are near country-club fast and roll true. The pace of play was very good, we finished in just over four hours. The course is a challenge for all skill levels, with five sets of tess to pick the right one for your driver distance. The course weaves through the resort complex, but the houses and yards very rarely come into play. It's simply one of the more enjoyable venues you'll find.

Not bad for Atlanta

I played the Woodlands , It was a nice track but needed not in great shape , certainly not what I am used to coming from Palm Desert California , interestingly enough the staff agreed and mentioned that the Chateau course was in much better shape , so if I return I will book the course next time
