very uncomfortable.
I felt like the staff was watching me extra closely. The marshall there was following me around the golf course. I would never play there again. I felt like they were discrinatong against me.
decent layout but the course is in poor condition
pay a little more and play metropolitian. the layout is decent and long enough to use every club but the course is in poor condition. lots of bare spots in fairways, bunkers and greens are a joke.
Course needs considerable conditioning.
The overall experience was very good. The starter let us go out as soon as we arrived, which was about 15 min. before our scheduled tee time. The course, especially the front side, needs a lot of work to get the grass to grown on the fairways. Holes 4 and 5 were very bad, especially around the greens. The green at hole 4 was very bad - not smooth at all. I think they painted the fairway and green on hole 4 green.
The course facts
This is a really nice course in late spring and summer. During the winter after consistent days of rain they should close the course and just keep the bar / restaurant open. The conditions are poor and need a few days to dry out a little. Not everyone follow cart path only rules especially when driving through pot holes and rivers on the path.
Never again.
Hadn't rained in almost a week, yet there was standing water all over the course that smelled like sewage. Front nine was nearly unplayable. Every shot (including center fairway shots) required relief. The greens were like putting in the rough. Not sure if the course does any maintenance during this time of year. Pro shop was unfriendly to say the least. Would not play again even if Golfnow had $10 green fees.
fairways in poor condition due to overwater, car paths in poor condition
The course was very muddy, and the car paths were in really bad shape, full of holes I almost fell off my cart with all the bouncing the cart was doing on the cart paths, the course was a muddy mess, and it had not rained. In hole number 4 the fairway smelled like sewer and felt like a swamp. Even when I found the fairways, I had to move my ball out of mud puddles to be able to take my next stroke.
Staff and facilities Great for a Muni.
I have played Skywest for over 20 years. The redesign from the early 90's has made a challenging course for an amateur. Clubhouse is very nice and a good extra event area for weddings, tournaments, etc. Carts well maintained.
Food is good in the lounge.
The fairways are fairly wide with overhanging trees to narrow the target. No hard doglegs, but ball eating forest groves for the slicer and hazards around the par 3's. Most prevailing water is to the right. Some to hit over. A nice sweeping dogleg with water surrounding the right of the landing zone. Airport next door provides some noise, but all small craft.
Has a few gophers and ground squirrels around.
Poor greens
Overall a good value. Course conditions are abut average, but the greens are below average. The greens are always in poor shape. Not sure why they rarely roll or cut them. It is like putting on shag carpet.
good round
It is a o.k course fun not to challenging a little long from the white tees. Golfnow has some great prices at good tee times.
Long, decent shape on fairways, bumpy/slow greens.
Reasonably long course and overall fairways are ins decent shape. Tee boxes need to be flattened out a little, greens were bumpy and very slow. Rough was longer than usual this time out which made the course a little more challenging than usual.
Interesting holes, not very scenic, but a good play for the price. Rough outside the fairways in great condition in some areas and very poor in others. Be prepared for a bumpy ride if riding in a cart.
So So
A lot of mud and rough very close to the green. And took us a long time as there were a bunch of hackers in front of us. Play early and wait until conditions improve.
I like the course, some really good challenges. very friendly staff.
A really fun course4. There are some challenges, and the greens are unpredictable. You can use all the clubs in your bag here. Only minus, you have to be two or more to reservations on GolfNow, otherwise you get a system error.
Long course certainly provides a challenge, but so does the poor conditions of the course.
This course is as flat as a pancake. So at first glance you think this is going to be easy, but it is definitely not. Because of the sheer length of the course, it will test your driver and long irons all day long. White tees play like Blues, and Blues like Black here. It is most often windy here as well, which makes most of the holes even longer. So don't ignore this inexpensive muni because you think it will be too easy, but no one would blame you if you skiped it because the playing conditions are overall, dreadful. Chewed up and crowned tee boxes, dead patches/weed patches adorn the fairways, and the grass surrounding most of the greens looks like it has been through chemo. Goose droppings and the birds themselves are everywhere. Usually however the greens are kept up pretty well for a massively played public course. This last play however, they fit in with the rest of the course. They were about a 2 on the Stimpmeter and bumpy. Still if you live in the east bay and are on a golf budget (as I am) and do not feel like driving an hour for better courses for the same money, then this will at least feed your hunger to play some challenging golf. Just remember to allow yourself a 6" or maybe 6' bump to find some decent grass to hit off of.
Course condition not great
Greens slow. Some areas not mowed because were too soggy. Overall condition of course was poor.
Charged spectator fee for my wife to walk with our group.
The course is terrible...
I'm sorry but the putting greens are like putting on certain fairways. It is a far from refreshing course. I'm so sad to see this place falling apart.
I will never go there again, unless I'm forced to...
mens club are tooooo many tv golfers
Course had a men's event and just off the bat the starter warned us that it would be a 5 Plus hour round because the mens club was on the course
yes its a tournament and no they did not play under the 4.5 hours that the usga and ncga are saying should be the pace of play
ALL CLUB FUNCTIONS SHOULD BE UNDER 4.5 HOURS OF PLAY OR SHOULD HAVE PENALTIES it all starts with them
we kept up and were being pressed by the group behind and I never say a marshall
The best deal for the price and course conditions in the Bay Area.
You can't beat the discounted rates available through Golf Now. The course is generally well maintained, but there are worn out patches, and the greens could be mowed more often.
Without course assistants monitoring the pace of play there are times when we requested to be allowed to play through a particullarly slow group.
bad course
greens are horrible, and lots of beginners messing around smoking and drinking
this course condition needs a lot of improvement
drainage is an issue on a lot of holes - 4th hole, 14th hole, 16th hole in particular.
