About
Nestled amongst the gently rolling hills of Rockdale County, Cherokee Run Golf Club lies within the Georgia International Horse Park. Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay designed the course. Occupied for centuries by the Cherokee Indians, dozens of arrowheads were found in the Georgian red clay as the golf course was being built. The beautiful landscape is covered in granite outcroppings, native wetlands, and dense hardwood forests. The towering trees line the fairways and the steep inclines throughout the course provide fast, undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on six holes at Cherokee Run Golf Club and there are nearly 100 strategically placed bunkers. The course's signature hole is the par-3 third. This challenging hole demands an accurate tee shot in order to safely make it past the sand bunkers that border both sides of the fairway.

The course conditions were excellent without exceptional- can’t wait to return. My only disappointment was …. Did not see any Cherokee’s running 🦵🏾

Very good course.. well kept greens. The grass near the fairways are super thick. You can loose your ball easily

Excellent course, punishing rough
This course is absolutely gorgeous. The day we played, it was a little wet and cart path only. Tough course to play with cart path only. You are going up or downhill virtually every hole. The rough doesn’t look bad, but you can lose a ball 6 inches into it and we did all day long. Staff was great, pace of play was under 4 hours even cart path only. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m traveling through ATL.

Best around
There's a reason it's always ranked as one of the best public courses in GA. Zoysia fairways are immaculate and greens are championship caliber. My only gripe, albeit petty, is the overgrowth of trees into the 17th off the tee and second shot, but maybe it's just because I hate that hole.

One of the best public courses around the east Atlanta area. Great value.
Great course
I haven’t been playing that long but the course is very challenging and pretty well maintained. I played with two experienced golfers and they felt the course was really nice.

Arnies Place
Love this Arnold Palmer designed track. Due to injury I have not played here in many months. It did not disappoint. Greens are in great shape. Lightening fast as usual. Fairways are well maintained. Rough is U.S. open ready. Very penal. Really difficult to find your ball when in it. Because of all the rain the bunkers need to be redone. Returning from hip replacement the plush cushioned cart seats were a pleasure. Don’t give playing here a second thought. It’s worth it.
Outer Fairway Grass is Too Dense & Long
Overall this is an awesome course. The green was firm and in great condition. However, I lost 4 good balls in the thick dense grass just outside the fairways. That's really frustrating.

Firm, fast greens
The course was in great condition, but fairways and greens were very firm and in need of water. We had 8 shots to greens that bounced up over 15 ft and over the greens. Some downhill putts ran 10+ ft beyond the hole. If you hit all the greens at the front and keep the ball below the hole you’re in good shape. Nevertheless, it’s always a pleasure to play this course.

Great layout
Greens are great, looks like they got sanded a few weeks ago, but are healing, didn't affect the putting. Fairways are beautiful and tee boxes are very good. Layout is outstanding. Lots of doglegs and you have to think your way around the course.

Challenging course if you’re not on fairways. Absolutely enjoyed a round with my son.

Easy to double a hole from fairways 120 out lol.
