About
Nestled amongst the gently rolling hills of Rockdale County, Cherokee Run Golf Club lies within the Georgia International Horse Park. Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay designed the course. Occupied for centuries by the Cherokee Indians, dozens of arrowheads were found in the Georgian red clay as the golf course was being built. The beautiful landscape is covered in granite outcroppings, native wetlands, and dense hardwood forests. The towering trees line the fairways and the steep inclines throughout the course provide fast, undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on six holes at Cherokee Run Golf Club and there are nearly 100 strategically placed bunkers. The course's signature hole is the par-3 third. This challenging hole demands an accurate tee shot in order to safely make it past the sand bunkers that border both sides of the fairway.

Fast Greens and some blind shot layouts
I found it a tough test if you have not seen the track before or it has been 20yrs like me. The greens were blazing fast and in great shape. My playing partner was not a fan of the course and I was less critical but I agreed #8 is not a great par 5.

Once and done
I have no real complaints - the course was in decent condition - dry despotic having to dodge sprinklers working on much of the course. good lies in the fairways (I am always surprised to see how many divots are not filled - and there were many) - and the green speed was fair. Bunkers were in poor condition - if players will not fill divots, do you think any would rake a bunker? The real issue - the course was not fun, far too difficult for most golfers with virtually every shot being well above or well below where the shot was hit from. I played with two high handicappers (I am a six) who lost at least a dozen balls between them Uphill shots to greens were beyond their skill level = and they played at 5700 yards.

Must play!!!
This course is a must play when in metro Atlanta. Only 30 miles east of the city, it's well worth the drive. An Arnold Palmer classic with soft zoysia fairways,fast greens,and plenty of character!!!! We play it at least 6 times a year.

Great Shape (for the most part)
Love the zoysia fairways. They were in great shape, as were the greens. The bunkers don't have a whole lot of sand in them and when they do, it is a course sand with a pea sized rocks. They bunkers are hard pan mostly. The rest of the course is great. Just stay away from the bunkers.

Great course. Rewd staff member.
Staff member basically accused me of lying that I was part of a twosome that booked the same tee time I booked on Golfnow I guess because we all were of the same complexion. He would not initially give me the cart key even though I told him I didn't know them.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!!
The course was in spectacular condition considering the course is built on a mountain!!! The grass was spongy and allowed you to really compress the ball! The greens were very slippery, but the increased the challenge! Our cart almost ran out of juice climbing all those hills, but I will definitely be coming back!!!!

Fun Course
It was hot and dry. Played from the tips because it was so dry. The greens were perfect It was fun even on the double bogie holes. The 9th, 10, and the 18th hole are my favorite. Tee boxes could have used some water it was hard to get tee in the ground. The driving range was a little bumpy and dry but that is my only negatives. I will play here many more times. The staff here is the best I have ever encountered. Keep on being great.

Great layout
Love this course. Will play again. Some tee boxes need a little work. Greens were in great shape. Fun but challenging course. Some very scenic holes!
