About
Nestled amongst the gently rolling hills of Rockdale County, Cherokee Run Golf Club lies within the Georgia International Horse Park. Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay designed the course. Occupied for centuries by the Cherokee Indians, dozens of arrowheads were found in the Georgian red clay as the golf course was being built. The beautiful landscape is covered in granite outcroppings, native wetlands, and dense hardwood forests. The towering trees line the fairways and the steep inclines throughout the course provide fast, undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on six holes at Cherokee Run Golf Club and there are nearly 100 strategically placed bunkers. The course's signature hole is the par-3 third. This challenging hole demands an accurate tee shot in order to safely make it past the sand bunkers that border both sides of the fairway.

I Used To Love Arnold Palmer
This course is amazing.......if you’re on your game. If you’re struggling with your driver, like I am, or irons/short game, this course will eat your lunch,
The course is in great shape with the exception of a few greens that have some hydraulic leak damage or some fungal damage, number 3 being the worst. But I would absolutely recommend and play this course again!

slow play
very slow today. no Marshall to get them moving. would hesitate to recommend do to pace of play and condition of bunkers.

Awesome Track
Only play Cherokee Run a couple of times a year, but it’s an awesome track. Pretty open off the tee but lots of twists and turns thereafter. Greens are fast and true. Different tees for every level, but green tees are best for mediocre golfers. Played on a Monday and two of us played in 3.5 hours.

Still the best in town for the money
Played the Run again on a Sunday. Although it was very crowded, and pace a little slow (4.5 hrs), the course once again showed why it’s the best value for the money if not in the entire ATL area, at least on the east side.
Greens were fast, smooth, and true. The bunkers, usually a weakness with this course, were in excellent shape. And of course Palmer’s brilliant risk reward layout shined as always.
This is not a course for the faint of heart. There are blind shots, forced carries, and places where the layout forces your hand on the type shot required. There are places above the hole where a 2-putt is near impossible. But if you know how to attack the course, and make precise shots, you can score well. This course bodes repeated playing to learn how to do that.

Beauty
Wow! Beautiful course. Well maintained and FAST greens. Had never played here before and very challenging layout. Hilly and curvy with many scenic holes. Course was in good shape. Play was a little slow. 2 some - 4 1/2 hrs… would definitely recommend! Some tee boxes were a little beat up but all in all way worth the money.

Why not 5 stars?
The golf course was in great shape and we played 18 holes in 3:15... and never felt like we were hurrying. What was frustrating were the inconsistencies... in the speed of the greens and of the sand in the bunkers. The practice green was like putting on glass as were several holes and then on other holes the ball stopped while going downhill. We couldn't get a read right most of the day. In addition, the sand in the bunkers was largely the same (a heavier brown mix) and then a few holes it was white and almost like granular sugar that just exploded under the ball when struck... which meant the ball went nowhere. I really like playing Cherokee Run and will be back, but wanted to give feedback that would make the next round more enjoyable.

Unbearable slow play
I played this course for the first time and it will be my last. The round took 5 hours and 15 minutes we were waiting 10-15 minutes on the tee box of each hole. Unacceptable.
I will say, the course is very scenic and a unique layout. I played from the blues and it was probably one of the harder courses I have ever played. I did not like the greens. They did not roll true and seemed very clayish, not a healthy grass layer.
Won't be back due to the pace of play.
