Cherokee Run Golf Club
About
Nestled amongst the gently rolling hills of Rockdale County, Cherokee Run Golf Club lies within the Georgia International Horse Park. Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay designed the course. Occupied for centuries by the Cherokee Indians, dozens of arrowheads were found in the Georgian red clay as the golf course was being built. The beautiful landscape is covered in granite outcroppings, native wetlands, and dense hardwood forests. The towering trees line the fairways and the steep inclines throughout the course provide fast, undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on six holes at Cherokee Run Golf Club and there are nearly 100 strategically placed bunkers. The course's signature hole is the par-3 third. This challenging hole demands an accurate tee shot in order to safely make it past the sand bunkers that border both sides of the fairway.

Jewel of Rockdale County
Course conditions were spectacular from tee to green!
Great facllity
Played early morning during the week. No issues with pace of play as I was 2nd on the course. The course was in great shape except for the traps (expected with all the rain). Greens were perfect!!! Played from the blues, but next time I’ll play from the blacks as a number of the par fours are pretty short from the blues, but I definitely will be playing agaIn soon! Love the layout!
Slowest Course Ever
I've played this course several times over the past few years and have usually enjoyed it. Something has happened this summer and the pace of play has come to a grinding halt. My last round was over 5 hours. The golf carts have GPS that track progress and even has a clock that says how long you are behind the pace of play. We were a hour over pace of play with no help from the course ranger trying to speed up play. They are more concerned with packing everyone onto the course then people having an enjoyable round. Unless you like waiting 15 minutes between holes and having rounds take up your whole day, go somewhere else.
This is a great course for golfers with average or better golf skills. The greens were smooth and fast and the fairways were in good shape for July. The layout has enough different holes that it keeps your mind in the game the entire round. I wish I lived closer so I could play this track more often.
Too slow
Like Cherokee Run but the pace of play was extremely slow. Lot of players and the staff seemed overwhelmed and unable to manage slow play. Condition of the course was fine but the play was way too slow. Over 5 hour round. No good.
DP
Great round; course is in excellent shape 5 stars. It was cart path only; that’s my only complaint.
Beautiful course
This course was in excellent condition! Caution the greens are very fast!
Awesome beautiful fun course
This course is amazing. It is great shape and well laid out with challenges around every bend. The staff was great and the course was beautiful. If you are looking for a great round of golf that is on par with some of the best private courses....stop looking this is the place.
4.8 Stars
One of the best courses ever played... Greens were very fast; warp speed. Fairways just cut. The zoysia grass (fairways) was nicer than some greens at other courses. Sand traps were a bit hard (so stay out of them). Cars in the lot, but almost no crowd on the course. Nobody behind, nobody in front. GPS on the carts very accurate. GPS limits carts on steep downhill paths and out of bounds areas. Carts have coolers and ball washers.
Great course. Always enjoy playing this course.
Always in great shape. One of the best courses in Georgia.
Monday’s are great.
Come on out. Get a lot of holes in on Monday on a beautiful course that’s challenging.
Challenging layout
First time playing the course. Very challenging layout and difficult. Blind tee shots and several elevation changes. Many greens protected by water and sand. Zoysia fairways were in excellent condition with good roll and few bare spots. Greens were also in great shape. However all of the bunkers were in bad shape with some half full of water and poor drainage. (Reason for the 4 rating) Pace of play was slow on back nine. Had a single in front of us (on a Sunday!) and slow threesome in front of him. Range balls included in price. Range includes a green side trap. Look forward to playing again after having a round of playing experience.
Relaxing Afternoon Round
You won’t find a better public experience in the Atlanta area. I’m a TPC member so that is saying a lot about the job Tommy, Andy and the staff at Cherokee Run do. Course is in outstanding conditions. Greens are incredible. Traps don’t drain well but they have taken a lot of water recently. My son and I made a last minute tee time for 2:10 on Saturday. Great time together. We played in 3:40. We played through one foursome and were never pushed or held up. Great job CR team!
Top Notch
This is one of the best golf values in Atlanta. The course was in excellent condition. Greens are in great shape and practice facilities are great, practice balls are included. It’s worth a 30 mile commute from Buckhead-Atlanta. I would be a member if it were more convenient.
Nice Course
I enjoy this course every time that I play. The fairways, greens, bunkers and overall condition of the course were very good as usual. I played at 11:00 on a Saturday. The course was not overly crowded however the pace of play was atrocious. Took 5 1/2 hours to play and never saw a marshall to find out the cause of the slowdown although I suspect it was a foursome 2 or 3 groups in front of us. Overall, a great course that took far too long to play.
I love Zoysia
This course is in great shape. I love the Zoysia fairways. Greens are the best I,ve played this spring.
What a gem this course is. Challenging par 5's . Make a wrong decision whether to lay up or go for it and a potential birdie turns into a snowman. I can't recall two holes on the course that give you the same look
Château Élan Stay & Play Golf Package
Did the 4+ inches of rain in the last day and a half have anything to do with the bunkers?
