Cherokee Run Golf Club
About
Nestled amongst the gently rolling hills of Rockdale County, Cherokee Run Golf Club lies within the Georgia International Horse Park. Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay designed the course. Occupied for centuries by the Cherokee Indians, dozens of arrowheads were found in the Georgian red clay as the golf course was being built. The beautiful landscape is covered in granite outcroppings, native wetlands, and dense hardwood forests. The towering trees line the fairways and the steep inclines throughout the course provide fast, undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on six holes at Cherokee Run Golf Club and there are nearly 100 strategically placed bunkers. The course's signature hole is the par-3 third. This challenging hole demands an accurate tee shot in order to safely make it past the sand bunkers that border both sides of the fairway.

Needs some work
Good course okay shape i remember when the course was great excellent but needs some attention now. Lost 2 balls in the fairway on 18 with the double cut fairway. The out of bounds needs some attention because if you ball rolls in you cant find it. Love the golf carts. Also some tee boxes need help. But for $30 because of the greens aerated not bad. I'll be back. Thanks
Good Round.
Course in great shape, but it was HOT, we expected that, and cut our round short. Big course if you are tired and hot.
But always an eventful course. Know your site lines.
Difficult but really really good.
The course is in amazing shape. Nothing more to it. One of the top five courses within 30 miles of Atalanta, easily.
Best in Atlanta
Cherokee Run has been my favorite public course in Atlanta for the last five years. The layout is fun, challenging, and fair. It is always in great condition. I gave it 4 stars because the bunkers need to be rehabbed. I also meet great people there--people who are grateful for the chance to play such a nice course at such a great price. Thanks, Cherokee Run staff!
A different challenge
The first 3 holes, I thought I was over my head. I then settled down and played golf, and noticed there are some short cuts, especially on the par 5s. This is a very well maintained course, friendly staff, nice greens.
Amazing Views, Amazingly challenging
Plenty of elevation changes. Best course conditions I've seen this summer of any course I've played. From mountain views to a granite rock hillslide that looks like molten lava from a volcano. This course has wonderful scenery.
Pro shop personnel warned me this course is more challenging than most, he wasn't kidding. You have to draw or fade with everything from a driver to a 9 iron. Two par fives make you think to try hit crush a drive 270 over trouble or hit a hybrid, then wood, then short iron in. Really great design of risk/reward. Greens were small but excellent shape. This course kicked me in the pants and I enjoyed it.
very nice
very nice course .... how many reviews do you want after every round ... my sides!
Great to play again
It had been 18 months since I last played here and the wet Spring and Summer really greened up the course. The greens were in great shape and really fast with subtle undulations that led to a lot of near misses. This is course you need to play with someone who has played it before if it’s your first time or you will hit the wrong club at times. It’s a true gem in terms of layout and conditioning and one I look forward to playing more and more as my game improves.
Jewel of Rockdale County
Course conditions were spectacular from tee to green!
Great facllity
Played early morning during the week. No issues with pace of play as I was 2nd on the course. The course was in great shape except for the traps (expected with all the rain). Greens were perfect!!! Played from the blues, but next time I’ll play from the blacks as a number of the par fours are pretty short from the blues, but I definitely will be playing agaIn soon! Love the layout!
Slowest Course Ever
I've played this course several times over the past few years and have usually enjoyed it. Something has happened this summer and the pace of play has come to a grinding halt. My last round was over 5 hours. The golf carts have GPS that track progress and even has a clock that says how long you are behind the pace of play. We were a hour over pace of play with no help from the course ranger trying to speed up play. They are more concerned with packing everyone onto the course then people having an enjoyable round. Unless you like waiting 15 minutes between holes and having rounds take up your whole day, go somewhere else.
This is a great course for golfers with average or better golf skills. The greens were smooth and fast and the fairways were in good shape for July. The layout has enough different holes that it keeps your mind in the game the entire round. I wish I lived closer so I could play this track more often.
Too slow
Like Cherokee Run but the pace of play was extremely slow. Lot of players and the staff seemed overwhelmed and unable to manage slow play. Condition of the course was fine but the play was way too slow. Over 5 hour round. No good.
DP
Great round; course is in excellent shape 5 stars. It was cart path only; that’s my only complaint.
Beautiful course
This course was in excellent condition! Caution the greens are very fast!
Awesome beautiful fun course
This course is amazing. It is great shape and well laid out with challenges around every bend. The staff was great and the course was beautiful. If you are looking for a great round of golf that is on par with some of the best private courses....stop looking this is the place.
4.8 Stars
One of the best courses ever played... Greens were very fast; warp speed. Fairways just cut. The zoysia grass (fairways) was nicer than some greens at other courses. Sand traps were a bit hard (so stay out of them). Cars in the lot, but almost no crowd on the course. Nobody behind, nobody in front. GPS on the carts very accurate. GPS limits carts on steep downhill paths and out of bounds areas. Carts have coolers and ball washers.
Great course. Always enjoy playing this course.
Always in great shape. One of the best courses in Georgia.
