Cottonwood Golf Club - Ivanhoe Course

Call me a clown who can’t hit the ball straight but I personally think they need to invest in staff to trim the trees. i’m a fairly average golfer and usually have no problem hitting the ball straight but I found on a lot of holes there would be large tree branches overhanging the fairway. Maybe that’s course design and maybe that’s how it’s supposed to be but I personally did not enjoy seeing my ball drop from branches when i was hitting good balls.

The local men’s club plays Saturday AM. Meaning that the course is ALWAYS backed up that afternoon. Plan on delayed tee times and no carts available in the PM. Also, take a free drop if you hit your ball in a bunker. They’re unplayable.

First, I rated the Off-Course amenities as Fair, just because right now there is no driving range available. There are some decent short game areas for practice and warmup. Overall, it's a very good round for the money, and Kevin and his staff are very good. The course itself is a pretty nice layout. I have been playing here occasionally since the mid-1970s and have seen it in better shape, but for an affordable round on a very walkable course, it's as good as anything in the San Diego area. Greens are above average. There are some areas that are in need of TLC, such as some of the tee boxes and some patches of fairway, but they're not a major problem.

I live close to this course. I am disabled and everyone of the staff is very nice and helpful. I love going down to play there or if not I spend a couple hours eating and practicing and socializing. Its now my home away from home :-)

My first playing this course and it was so nice and a friendly course. Besides the hot deal is very affordable For sure to play here again

This was my first time playing from the white tees. Normally I play from the golds, it was slightly harder on some of the holes. Just a little too far. But it was a nice challenge ;-)

Condition of the course and very fair price coupled with nice weather made it a pleasant afternoon.

I love playing here. Great value for the money. Always in decent shape. Would recommend.

The glory days of cottonwood are long gone but it’s decent for the price/location considering all the singing hills courses are under some kind of construction at the moment (and will probably cost more when they are done). Friendly staff and the course was in better condition than when I played here about a year ago. Pace of play was very slow but it was a Sunday and it’s not exactly a “championship level” course so that was to be expected if you are realistic about the types of players that will be there.
