Cottonwood Golf Club - Ivanhoe Course

From the time I walked in to the pro shop I was impressed with the staff. They were extremely welcoming and friendly. Willie, the starter, was especially warm and friendly. I left my cell phone behind when I left. When I returned to find it, Willie did everything he could to find it. Eventually we were able to track it down on the course where Willie drove me out to pick it up. I am so grateful to him.

The fairways are in poor conditions. No one repairs the green divots. Sand traps were just dirt , no Sand there. One porta potty on the entire course.

Little to no maintenance though out the course. The pace of play was extremely slow. It took 5 hours and 30 minutes plus to play. They obviously over book the course.

I enjoy playing Cottonwood, but this time the course was really backed up. One or two groups at every tee. Normally that is not the case here. We'll still return in the future.

Getting better all the time, great people working there, fries the best in San Diego, greens excellent. Keep up the good work.

The staff friendliness is the best you could expect from a public course.

The course was in decent shape.

The value here can't be beat.

You want an onsite 5 star restaurant? Go somewhere else

You want a complete full Driving range? Go somewhere else.

You want a GPS on your golf cart? Go somewhere else.

You want to walk or ride a nice 18 hole challenging course and not pay $60, $70, $80 or more then play here. Great value for the money. We’ll be back soon!

Got to be a lot of either fake reviews or bought reviews Lets start with the picture you see on line from a golf course that's been closed for years the condition of this course is so bad form them to charge more then 30.00 with a cart to play here is criminal Very nice staff everyone always seems to be in a good mood

I get it you bought the place to dig it up and build house's since that's not gonna happen how about fixing the place up a little maybe even reopen the lakes make the lake really nice and charge a premium to play it were in San Diego can you find an island hole ? anyway it's to bad they course is in this condition now I know why they call you the GRIM Ripper of golf courses

Excellent value for the money

The greens were bumpy however

Frost delay pushed out 12:22 tee time out to 1pm. Only got to hole 15 before full darkness at 15. Thought the pace would be faster given the delay. It happens. I’ll be back in the warmer months.

Agree that anyone who writes a bad review of this place has no appreciation of good value. One can walk this championship golf course for under $30 and finish. Unheard of in a place like SD. Greens have been rolling great since the brief closing during C19. Totally disagree with the reviewer stating they r bumpy. I can afford to bring my kids to this place and get in an old school legit round of golf. Cottonwood used to be the Monday qualifier for The Buick which is now The Farmers. Not surpirsed college golf is being played here. Great to hear. The driver can be used on almost every par 4 if you want to as there are essentially no gimmicky holes. Would prefer a great course with average off course amenties to keep the price down all day every day. Thank you Cottonwood. Lucky to have you in SD.

The greens are are always somewhat challenging, all greens are lacking aeration, something management needs to probably address... They've been like this for quite sometime now that I have noticed! Most of your putts will bounce allover the greens. I also noticed on this day that there were some collegiate golf taking place here, and all were walking! I don't know how often this happens here maybe it was just a one time ordeal, but they slow the heck out of the pace for everyone else, and tensions were running a little high amongst golfers! Pace is usually pretty decent, but not on this day! At few times we even got to see as many as 8 to 12 players on the green. MARSHALLLLLL????

Course shows signs of actual maintenance, but there are still many items which need attention.
