Cottonwood Golf Club - Ivanhoe Course

Got to the 10th and there was a group of 10 playing teeing off...... seriously? We left

This place books whatever they can get i guess, every time ive gone here in the past 4 months which is about three times i guess, ive played 6 1/2 hours for 18. Get what ya pay for i know, but i will not be golfing here again for a long time. They should feel guilty for charging anything over 40.

It is a shame that what was once a vibrant course with a lot of local support has fallen into such disrepair. What happened to the staff, course repair and restaurant? It just seems that every time you play that it could be your last. We can’t afford to lose another fine course due to poor ownership.

Pace of play was really slow but overall we had a good time

use to be a fun track, but barely hanging on: everything is bare bones and not worth the drive

I like playing this course very much. The course fairways and greens are in good condition. You can enjoy the course because it's not to difficulty to play.

This is a good course with challenging layout. But the facility is old a worn. Fairway and greens average or slightly better. But rough and off-fairway areas not in acceptable condition. Play very slow with singles mixed in between foursomes. Poor starting and grouping management. This is an old time course trying to get revived. Needs a long term plan if going to turn around. Other courses better for same fee range.

Way back in the day this course may have been the premier east county course but those days are long gone.

That said, its not a terrible course but its far from great. This is a “ basic” course, no frills. No starter, no marshals, not even cart paths. I will give kudos to the staff, especially the cart girl who was extremely friendly and available, and the greens, though cosmetically not the best they rolled true despite all the leaves.

After a 5+ hour round, I don’t think I’d recommend this course to anyone nor do I think I’ll play here again.

Ivanhoe is trying to make a comeback. It's no fault of the few employees they have. After closing one of their courses, they are watering the course more and it has improved. The greens are soft but decent. Fairways are getting better. The price on a hot deal is ok but be ready to be behind a local 5 or 6 some. The facilities are shot, somebody should be embarrassed. Dirty restrooms, milk crates for trashcans etc. I always try not to find fault but there are too many things to overlook.

Played on Oct 20. Seems that the fair way condition is a little bit better or improved than before though there are some bare brown areas and the grass is thin in fairways. Green was OK but the pace was slow. The course lay out is flat and widely open and does not have formidable water hazards or bunkers but the total length of the course with about 6,500 yards from white tee is long. Suitable course for beginners to practice but low handy cap golfers may feel they are missing something in this course by the layout or

course condition which can be improved better.

Stopped playing Cottonwood in 2017 due poor course condition.

Friend played this week and said was in good shape and sure enough, played it and had a great day-greens beautiful, fairways good condition especially considering recent drought/end of summer.

Cottonwood Ivanhoe is old school , simple layout, easy to walk, low fees, loved seeing it doing well like the old days.

To my dismay golfers were inserted in between golfers during a shotgun tournament causing waits on every hole. There were no starters nor marshalls to speed up play. My actual time to tee off was way past my tee time. It very sad as I have played this course for 25 years and it is shame it has fallen so low in playability due to lack of staff. My checkin person in the pro shop was very friendly however.

Many have written this course off but right now it’s in pretty good shape. Fairways and greens surprisingly well kept. Cheap fun day.

I was pleasantly surprised, the course is in good shape. I have never seen the fairways so green. Even though it was hot, we had a fast good round.

This is a fun course to play, Greens were pretty good and fairways were nice. It’s spread out well so you don’t feel like your playing on top of others.

Everything is old and dirty. Wouldn’t kill them to hit the carts with a hose once in a while. There’s a number of things my wife and I consider desirable at a course, few of which are present here. Most notably are the bombing zone greens. While fixing ball marks are a players responsibility, you wouldn’t expect the staff to completely let it go without any daily touch up. They’re so prevalent, you know you’re not dealing with today’s hits on the green. I can’t imagine how long you’d have to ignore it to get that bad. If it weren’t for the really bad greens, the course wouldn’t be that bad. Fairways were in great shape. Widest fairways I think I’ve ever played. A bit weird on some holes, but all holes are pretty easy to score. My wife doesn’t want to play there again. But I could see me taking someone who struggles with the driver.
