Senior Tees?
The course is in great shape. The greens were fast but in perfect shape. My only issue is the length even from the white tees are too long on some holes for a senior golfer.
Why isn't there any senior tees as there are in most courses?
I want to enjoy my round so I most likely will play elsewhere next time.
Greens are in great shape
Played at an off time by myself and enjoyed it. This was my first round in two years, so was playing from the white tees. Course was in very good condition even after a lot of rain the previous day. The greens were in excellent shape.
Since it was a slow day there was limited food available at the turn.
must play
Cool course,cool course,cool course,cool course,cool course
Slow Play
I played this course last weekend as a single. After 4 hours I was only on 15 and said to heck with it. When I got to 18 there was a 5 some playing. Why the course would let this happen I have no idea. The "ambassador" was riding the course and seeing this. The overall condition was just average. I don't think I wall play this course again.
Same as always
I only play here if it's my last resort. I understand this is a public course, but still, bunkers should be raked every morning . Who ever mowed the tee boxes and green side collars was leaking oil and didn't care.
Good course that challenging
Had good time and a great round (for me). Only tense moment was bunker on left - hole number 6. Bees in bunker get mad when you hit ball in there. Best advice... stay out of bunkers. Soggy ground around some greens. Lots of fun and challenges!
Call before you drive out there to play
It's been a few years since we have played Apalachee. The fast play rate was good and the weather wasn't supposed to turn until the afternoon so we went for the 6:28 time on Saturday morning. We found out after we reached the course that they are still recovering from aerating. Very disappointing given the >$40 rate. We played 18 in 3:30 with no surprises other than the horrific humidity and the recovering greens. We forgot how boxed in this course was for airflow. The course was overly soggy, but is in very good condition other than the aeration marks.
Imagination Required
The greens and fairways are in very good condition. The course requires you to use your imagination due to several blind tee shots and approach shots to the green. You have to control your distance off the tee on many holes to keep from hitting through the fairway. Lots of uneven lies in the fairway add to the challenge. This course gives you a variety of challenges to consider which makes this an awesome course to play. I played the course as a single in 2hrs 30mins.
Absolutely Mediocre
From the moment I stepped into the clubhouse I knew this would be a less then spectacular experience. The man in the clubhouse was not very friendly at all. He was being rude to one of the people paying in front of me for not booking a certain way then he was less than cordial to the members of my group. The driving range was everything you'd expect from a public course and the putting green was a total disaster. Every putt I hit warming up sounding like scurrying animals as the ball hoped and bounced along the unkempt surface. The starter was the most pleasant person we encountered at the course. Very upbeat and nice to talk to as we waited for the groups in front of us to slowly plod along. The course itself was pretty soggy which was to be expected as the courses try to keep the course alive through the Georgia summer. The greens on the course we're much smoother than the practice green but rather inconsistent. The layout is okay with a couple really fun holes mixed with some really dumb ones. Overall it was an ok course but not one that I would make the trip to on purpose
Great morning round only marred by one thing
Course was in great shape, I was a single and one of the first off the tee. The greens rolled true and steady. A few issues with no grass along fairways where carts traveled. My only knock was when I made the turn I discovered that I ran into 3 foursomes going off the back nine. I was able to play through and finish in about 2 hours and 30 minutes. Was home before 10 AM. The way golf should be played.
Active and fun course
I have been here a few times now and have become comfortable on it. It does have some challenges but it's really worth the price through golfnow.com. I live a short distance from here so it will become one of my often visited courses.
What happened to these greens?!!
They just re-did the greens here. Going from Bentgrass to Bermuda. Last year they were great. Something has gone wrong! What a shame. Greens were in terrible shape. Half of #5 green is roped off. Number 8 (after always being a notoriously bad green) is right back to where it was. I can't understand the difficulty of growing Bermuda, but sympathize with those still dealing with Bent. Each green was consistent with how they look, which led me to believe that this was not due to any disease, or pest, but from bad course maintenance. I'm sure the course and members incurred a big cost to redo those greens. I hope they get them back!
Needs some TLC
Trophy Club of Apalachee can be a fun course. The weather has been perfect for conditioning a course with Bermuda fairways and greens. Yet, the course is in poor condition. The greens have many bare spots, quite hard and were not well mowed(slow). A smooth roll is hard to find. The tee boxes were not level, poorly mowed, and quite bare. The range was also in poor condition.
review
course is in good shape. new greens are great. Played as a single for $25 and finished in 2 hours 45 minutes.
Not worth a dime.
Arrived 35 minutes early to hit range balls, but there was no parking. Had to wait 25 minutes to find a parking spot. Only to proceed with a 2 hour and 50 minute front 9. Left after that. Course was in terrible shape on top of that. Won't ever go back
Greens are rough
I was very disappointed in the condition of the greens especially since they just replaced these greens about a year ago. The greens were very splotchy with man areas completely void of any grass not to mention that the greens were rough and looked as if they have not maintained. Several areas around the cart path were rutted and washed out along with the cart path having a lot of uneven concrete sections making it difficult to drive with any speed.
probably have to write this one off of my list for future play until they get the greens repaired.
Greens were bad. Everything else: average.
Majority of greens are really dead and diseased which makes you feel like you're putting on sand. Not enjoyable. Played here last year, greens were better. No clue what happened. The staff was very friendly. Practice putting green was nice. Carts in excellent condition. Hole #18: make sure you see exactly where your ball lands! This hole is covered in runaway range balls from the practice facility very close by.
Bad staff& pace
I love their greens I'll say that. I've played here probably 15 times or so but the staff has driven me away now. I will try to stay away, I live 5 minutes away so that's why I say try. Their course is cool it's nice but not for more than $35. Staff is terrible, I mean terrible. Nicest person was the bartender who I had to wait 10 or so minutes for her to acknowledge me. No cart girls ever. Never seen one out there. Also seems every hole has water drain issues???? If it's rained recently don't do it. I'll say it's a great course for beginners to bc most holes are fairly flat and strait.
Fantastic value
Course is in great shape. Tee boxes are pretty bad, but you can always find a good spot to him from. The fairways are in good condition, and the greens are in great shape as well. There are a few that need some work, but overall for what you pay this course is the best option by a mile.
Staff is awesome. From the rangers to the bartenders to the guys in the shop....top notch service
Grendel bad
The fairways are just okay. The greens should be the two put rule and out, for the most part they are diseased with a mold or fungus.
