The Course Marshall
One of the course Marshall, harassed us for no reason the only thing we could conclude was because the color of our skin, we asked other golfer of a different color and they had no issues, the guy name was Bud I think, probably won't be going back there if he's working.
Trophy club at Appalachia farms
The course was in decent condition considering the drought. It is a hard course and very slanted. The greens pitch and you have to be able to read them or it's gonna be a long day. Time of play was very good and Staff very friendly .
They booked too many people for the time to play.
There were too many people out there and not enough time to play. They were more interested in taking your money than you enjoying the course.
Good value but slow rounds
I have played here twice now and will be back as the course is a good value when using Last Minute Tee Times or GolfNow. It starts with a par 5, then a short (possibly driveable depending on tees played and ability) par 4, and the a long-ish par 3. This leads to groups playing slowly and bunching up on the tees. On the par 3 groups should allow the next group to hit their tee shots before putting. This will keep play moving. The course was pretty dry, although the greens were in good shape. There is variation in elevation and some holes going left while others right. All in all, it's a good track is you don't mind a slow round. Yesterday it took five and a half hours to play 18.
Yes, Again Course is nice
Well worth the money and drive. This course is in great shape, the greens are good, not the fastest but very smooth. Challenging, outlay with several tough doglegs, back nine was much harder than the front. Would love to play this course again. By the way the club house attendant was excellent, great attitude and very accommodating. Did not have time to attend the bar/restaurant in the clubhouse, but members of my group where happy with the food at the turn.
Improved - Still Not Great
The Trophy Club of Apalachee has greatly improved their greens over the last few months making the course reasonable to play. The greens had good pace and were generally smooth with very few bare spots. Otherwise the course is very playable, but not well groomed. This golf club simply does not put adequate effort into maintenance. The fairways and rough have decent grass with many weeds, areas with poor watering, areas with poor drainage, and areas with bare ground. The bunkers have little consistency and had not been recently groomed. The practice tee was very worn. This course has a decent layout and can be fun to play but is only recommended if the price is much less than $50.
Great Course
Trophy Club of Apalachee is an excellent course with a friendly staff. All the holes are beautiful requiring some challenging shots. Moreover, the greens are in excellent condition where the balls roll true. However, the greens are definitely fast and challenging when judging the speed of putts. I enjoy it because it will certainty make you a better golfer.
Love the greens
Course is in great shape and the greens are very consistent really enjoy playing there and most of the time I like the people I get paired with..
Senior Tees?
The course is in great shape. The greens were fast but in perfect shape. My only issue is the length even from the white tees are too long on some holes for a senior golfer.
Why isn't there any senior tees as there are in most courses?
I want to enjoy my round so I most likely will play elsewhere next time.
Greens are in great shape
Played at an off time by myself and enjoyed it. This was my first round in two years, so was playing from the white tees. Course was in very good condition even after a lot of rain the previous day. The greens were in excellent shape.
Since it was a slow day there was limited food available at the turn.
must play
Cool course,cool course,cool course,cool course,cool course
Slow Play
I played this course last weekend as a single. After 4 hours I was only on 15 and said to heck with it. When I got to 18 there was a 5 some playing. Why the course would let this happen I have no idea. The "ambassador" was riding the course and seeing this. The overall condition was just average. I don't think I wall play this course again.
Same as always
I only play here if it's my last resort. I understand this is a public course, but still, bunkers should be raked every morning . Who ever mowed the tee boxes and green side collars was leaking oil and didn't care.
Good course that challenging
Had good time and a great round (for me). Only tense moment was bunker on left - hole number 6. Bees in bunker get mad when you hit ball in there. Best advice... stay out of bunkers. Soggy ground around some greens. Lots of fun and challenges!
Call before you drive out there to play
It's been a few years since we have played Apalachee. The fast play rate was good and the weather wasn't supposed to turn until the afternoon so we went for the 6:28 time on Saturday morning. We found out after we reached the course that they are still recovering from aerating. Very disappointing given the >$40 rate. We played 18 in 3:30 with no surprises other than the horrific humidity and the recovering greens. We forgot how boxed in this course was for airflow. The course was overly soggy, but is in very good condition other than the aeration marks.
Imagination Required
The greens and fairways are in very good condition. The course requires you to use your imagination due to several blind tee shots and approach shots to the green. You have to control your distance off the tee on many holes to keep from hitting through the fairway. Lots of uneven lies in the fairway add to the challenge. This course gives you a variety of challenges to consider which makes this an awesome course to play. I played the course as a single in 2hrs 30mins.
Absolutely Mediocre
From the moment I stepped into the clubhouse I knew this would be a less then spectacular experience. The man in the clubhouse was not very friendly at all. He was being rude to one of the people paying in front of me for not booking a certain way then he was less than cordial to the members of my group. The driving range was everything you'd expect from a public course and the putting green was a total disaster. Every putt I hit warming up sounding like scurrying animals as the ball hoped and bounced along the unkempt surface. The starter was the most pleasant person we encountered at the course. Very upbeat and nice to talk to as we waited for the groups in front of us to slowly plod along. The course itself was pretty soggy which was to be expected as the courses try to keep the course alive through the Georgia summer. The greens on the course we're much smoother than the practice green but rather inconsistent. The layout is okay with a couple really fun holes mixed with some really dumb ones. Overall it was an ok course but not one that I would make the trip to on purpose
Great morning round only marred by one thing
Course was in great shape, I was a single and one of the first off the tee. The greens rolled true and steady. A few issues with no grass along fairways where carts traveled. My only knock was when I made the turn I discovered that I ran into 3 foursomes going off the back nine. I was able to play through and finish in about 2 hours and 30 minutes. Was home before 10 AM. The way golf should be played.
Active and fun course
I have been here a few times now and have become comfortable on it. It does have some challenges but it's really worth the price through golfnow.com. I live a short distance from here so it will become one of my often visited courses.
What happened to these greens?!!
They just re-did the greens here. Going from Bentgrass to Bermuda. Last year they were great. Something has gone wrong! What a shame. Greens were in terrible shape. Half of #5 green is roped off. Number 8 (after always being a notoriously bad green) is right back to where it was. I can't understand the difficulty of growing Bermuda, but sympathize with those still dealing with Bent. Each green was consistent with how they look, which led me to believe that this was not due to any disease, or pest, but from bad course maintenance. I'm sure the course and members incurred a big cost to redo those greens. I hope they get them back!
