Had a good time
We had a group of 4, we had no waiting issues though I can't say the same for the group behind us unfortunately. Only on the front 9 though.
The staff was friendly, Patrick is always friendly yet I wish I could say the same for Darius.
It was very wet that day and the course was soggy, greens were in good shape though.
If you play there often or just want to use a range then joining the Players Club is absolutely worth it.
Need some Work
A nice course that is going through some renovations. Greens were covered in chemicals making ball movement dodgy at best. Fairways were tall with little dinference from the fringe. Possibly further into summer the conditions may change. Friendly staff.
unique layout
Challenging course with a unique layout. It's in great condition and we played for a reasonable price. Only problem was there was a group of 5 in front of us - course ambassador drove by and said nothing.. Overall was a great experience and I highly recommend
Course Review
Course was wet. It was in okay shape for April. Could have definitely been better. We were paired up with another two-some. Layout is not bad but quite a few holes are narrow and the fairway slopes to the hazards.
This course is pretty good features
This course is well maintained and surround house is beautiful
Challenging but rewarding course
course was not long but challenged shot making.Fun
What Happened to this place?
Beautiful course, well maintained. Our group combined played around 50 rounds last year and had great experiences. However we will not be back until changes are made with the staff. Darius should not be in a position to work with people. It;s not what you say its how you say it. Very combative and condescending to customers. Field staff said he has driven off lots of customers and it is easy to understand why. Jason and I collided in our carts at one of those mirrored intersections. He sat there with a scowl on his face and said nothing until I asked if he was alright, then he replied yes, you? What has happened to this place? It was such a great place but most everyone seems to have a chip on their shoulder. Really hope they get it together.
greens are the best
first time playing on new greens. course in great shape.
Overbooked
Tee time was 40 minutes late
Only played front nine as play was extremely slow. We had to wait on every hole . Course was overbooked. There was no way we would finish before dark
Love the new greens!
Apalachee is a local go-to course for me. This was my first visit with the new Champion Bermuda greens and I have to say they were rolling smooth and fast. Very nice! The course itself is in good fall condition, the bunkers could use more sand in some places and the tee boxes could be leveled in a few but overall a very playable and enjoyable course.
slick greens
the new greens were very fast and will only get faster. I recommend the tips when playing this course as the blue tees were way up. Beware of the bermuda rough the ball will sink into, and its' tough to find.
Pro Style Layout!
Very good course and well upkeep......Golf Now made it affordable and able to enjoy!
Nicely done greens!
I noticed greens were changed from Vent to Bermuda. I don't think they are not yet settled completely since they are quite slow. But at least they were not bumpy at all. I guess they will be excellent by the next season. Fairway were well maintained.
Great Shape
Mild summer has left greens in great shape entering fall.
New greens are great.
Course is in excellent shape. First time I played after installing the new greens which, for my money, are the best in the metro area. Huge improvement since last I played.
SLOW GREENS
The new greens were so slow, it was like putting in sawdust! According to staff, they are only cutting the greens every other day. Wish they would have told us before we got to the course! Hole number 8 green looks like a patchwork blanket of sod and sand! I'd wait a while before playing this course again!
Really 3.5 Stars right now, but trending to 4
This review is primarily about the new greens. Played blue tees.
Tees, fairways, bunkers all in good shape considering a big rain the night before.
The new green surfaces were well received for the most part...they look great with a couple of exceptions (#8, notably, just too much shade I guess, they need to figure that one out).
They were fairly smooth, but slow in general and slower against the grain...not as firm as I thought they might be, (you will make pitchmarks, please repair them) very receptive to almost any approach wedge thru 5i...balls will spin back on short irons and staying within 3-4' of the pitchmark on midirons...maybe not a back pin with a long iron, but you can fly the ball to the pin right now. I wouldn't suggest that on firm Champions Bermuda.
If you can hit the putts firm enough (even downhill against the grain) you can score well...If you don't, you will curse the greens as being too slow. I don't think it will play any easier than right now.
The contours and breaks are mostly the same...#5 is bigger, friendlier...if you go long you can keep the next shot on the green now.
If you have played Providence, Lane Creek, or Chicopee (School/Village) then you have an idea of what these greens will be like in a few months...fast and smooth.
Some new sodded areas I assume covering the temp greens...all in all I applaud their efforts on the conversion and I'll be back soon. I'm not thinking they will reach peak form before the growing season for Champions Bermuda ends, but I think they made a smart move for years to come.
Great Greens, Teeboxes...not so much!?!
Overall the course is in great shape. My only complaint is that the tee boxes are far below the quality of the other areas. Many of the tee boxes are set on a slope. It's not a severe slope but definitely noticeable. Also, many of the Par 3 tee boxes had very little grass that wasn't loose. Just disappointed in the general condition of the boxes. Again, not a huge complaint just something I felt didn't get addressed in the renovations.
Temporary greens
Well designed course, but the temporary greens have shortened it considerably. However, management has the price right for the conditions and it was still a challenging day. The fairways are in great shape, the cuts are just long enough to make for a tricky approach if you miss the short stuff.
