Horrendous weekend pace
The good: the greens are in great shape, rolling fast and true. The food at Beeb’s is solid and the bar staff are nice.
The bad: the pace of play here on the weekends is awful. This course is worth playing, but only on a weekday if you call ahead to make sure there aren’t any leagues or groups teeing off before you. On the weekend expect to spend 5+ hours, no matter what time you tee off. I’ve played here 2 Saturday mornings in 2025 so far and both rounds clocked in at about 5:20. They don’t have a regular on-course Marshall and for whatever reason people play slow here with no repercussions.
Longest Round Ever
I thought Las Positas was making some improvements, but yesterday’s round that was proven wrong. It took us 5 hours and 40 minutes to play the round and there was not a marshal to be seen on the course. They simply don't care about pace of play. They just pack people on and forget about it.
Huge Improvement!
This was the fastest round we have ever played on a weekend. They also seem to be taking better care of the course lately.
Course of last resort might be improving
Maybe they hired a new superintendent but this is the first time it appears they are doing something to improve course conditions. They have installed walkways in and out of some greens and they actually had some fairways blocked off so that some grass would grown on the dirt. Could be a turning point!
Very slow
Course was in good condition. Cart lady had drinks snacks and a great attitude. Could use more ball washers. Pace was extremely slow, only completed 16 holes got too dark, had to call it a day after 5 hours .
Appalling pace of play and soggy
Saturday morning tee time around 8 am. It took 4 hours and 10 minutes to get to hole 13 and we just left or else it would have been a 6+ hours round. Fairways are wet and soggy even though it hasn't rained in the past 10+ days. Disappointing.
OB
This course was really nice but difficult to find shots in certain areas that weren’t directly in the fairway. The weather conditions for the few days prior were a little soggy so I can understand how they weren’t worried about cutting the grass with it being wet outside but it has definitely been longer than that since some of the areas had been maintained. It was my first time playing this course and it was my fault more than anything that I wasn’t in the fairway to begin with, but I had more than three shots that were just off in the first cut that could not be found. With that being said there is plenty of other areas where you can pick up more than what you had lost and was overall a nice course. Thanks to the pro shop manager and everyone else at the facility for what you do, will definitely be back and hopefully with more fairways hit in regulation.
Needs a lot of work
This place needs help. Has a decent layout for some challenging play but they need help managing tee times, pace and the course in an absolute mess! Super sloppy, bad drainage, sand is like concrete, greens were actually pretty dang good but tee boxes are neglected, carts suck and mine barely had brakes but were surprisingly fast, seats were all ripped up. I’ll probably try it again when the weather has been good for a long stretch but if it’s at all been wet, I’ll avoid this course.
Played in Marsh
This course has very poor drainage . There are puddles of water and mud or soggy soil in almost every fairway. Avoid playing this course during winter.
