Customer Service needs improvement
The staff was just short of being rude, not only with me but with other customers as well.
We were also overcharged and made us feel as if it was my fault.
Improving
Conditions getting better from the last time (about a year ago). Didn’t notice much dirt patches in the fairways as before. Finished in 4 hours walking so no complaints. One hole was closed for maintenance so had a temporary par 3 in its place. But still great value on a hot deal
Good layout
Las Positas is a good course with interesting and diverse holes, sneaky lurking water hazards and excellent greens and tee boxes. This course is going thru a full fairway redo of #18, so a short hole is provided to make it 18 holes. The green for that hole is a little rough, so just take the automatic 2 putt once on the temp green. The only other negative is the number of geese - unfortunately a national nuisance on golf courses!
Pace of Play
Great layout, friendly staff super poor pace of play. Been here plenty of times and pace of play tends to very slow.
Good condition and pace
Course is in good spring shape. Greens appear recently aerated but mostly recovered. Pace was reasonable — completed our middle-day weekend round in 5 hours.
Be sure to bring enough water, there are no refill stations on course.
Pace of play is horrifically bad
Another 6 hour round on a Saturday. They pack people onto the course and then don’t manage them at all. Don’t come here on a weekend unless you like waiting on every single shot.
Blue and black tees combined
I wished I had known. Suffered a lot to make par being a mid handicap.
White was moved to red. And blue was moved to black.
Not encouraging for mid handicappers
Horrendous weekend pace
The good: the greens are in great shape, rolling fast and true. The food at Beeb’s is solid and the bar staff are nice.
The bad: the pace of play here on the weekends is awful. This course is worth playing, but only on a weekday if you call ahead to make sure there aren’t any leagues or groups teeing off before you. On the weekend expect to spend 5+ hours, no matter what time you tee off. I’ve played here 2 Saturday mornings in 2025 so far and both rounds clocked in at about 5:20. They don’t have a regular on-course Marshall and for whatever reason people play slow here with no repercussions.
Longest Round Ever
I thought Las Positas was making some improvements, but yesterday’s round that was proven wrong. It took us 5 hours and 40 minutes to play the round and there was not a marshal to be seen on the course. They simply don't care about pace of play. They just pack people on and forget about it.
Huge Improvement!
This was the fastest round we have ever played on a weekend. They also seem to be taking better care of the course lately.
