Will go back to Las positas
First time playing Las Positas and I found it to be a good experience. Staff is friendly and the greens are in excellent shape. Got through the round in 3.5 hours and didn't have to wait on any tee or feel "pushed". Allowed one single to go thru and he probably finished in 2.5 hours.
Only detraction was some standing water on the course but given that it is the start of a heat wave, I understand. I will go back again.
Feedback
1. They had tee time booking issues and were 45min behind schedule. Our tee time of 11:44am didn’t start until 12:30pm.
2. Overbooked and too many people on the course playing. Pace of play was extremely slow. We didn’t even finish our round and left early at 6pm.
3. Also dangerous with that many players on the course. Also got hit with balls on our fairway from neighboring holes. Balls flying everywhere. I also had my 12 year old son and he almost got hit.
Club Knowingly Allows Slow Play (5.5+hrs) and Groups of 5 Amateurs
5.5+ hours for a round of 18. The club and marshal must do better to respect pace of play.
Our Sunday, pre-8am (Sun.) tee time delayed 15 mins. That by itself is no biggie, but come to find out they let groups of 5 Amateurs walk... from the blacks! The marshal told us at the beginning the multiple groups (at least 3) "play" same time every Sun., but they are quick.. ha! We would've never reserved or played knowing it.
I am an amateur and respectfully play from the appropriate tees.
To the dude in the red shirt, you have no business playing from the blacks.
To the rest in those groups, it doesn't seem "age appropriate" to be playing from the blacks. Put the egos away and respect everyone else trying to get a round in.
Really slow. No marshalls anywhere.
I golf every week. Hadn't been here in awhile. Won't come back. Waiting 10 to 20 minutes each hole. Waste of time and money. Overpriced for the layout.
Purchase Sand
Buy some sand for the traps, they are filled with Wet Dirt. No need for a starter, your Tee Time will be delayed 15-30 minutes..
Okay course with great staff
Not great conditions and normally slow pace of play. Staff is very friendly, restaurant is big and pretty good. They also have a 9- hole executive course and the conditions of that course are very good.
Nice layout, Poor condition
The photos on Golf now are not an accurate representation of the courses current condition. I really liked the layout of the course however the condition of the course was pretty poor. The grounds crew mowed the rough and left all the trimmings sitting on top of the rough all throughout the course. The bunkers were extremely wet with some having standing water approximately 2 inches deep. it was more of a wet compacted mud bunker than a sand bunker, The par 5, 18th hole was closed as they were replacing the fairway and an alternate par three was added in its place. The greens were not aerated but for some reason there was a thin top coat of sand on them. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Looks like nobody takes care of this course
Pot holes, no grass, odd layout, mud spots
The only positives were the cheap beer prices
