Beautiful bayside course Photo submitted by u000001344650 on 07/30/2018
Front 9 fun back nine snails pace
Course is a hidden gem, Australian links style, fairways dry and patchy, greens phenomenal. Front 9 with 2 walking took us 2hrs back 9 we called and complained on 11 as there were 4 groups on 1 while waiting, gave up and walked over to North course and the guy in shop kindly agreed for us to play that 9 to get in a full 18. North course is phenomenal shape taking the rain we had superbly.
Greens are excellent, fast, true and challenging
Starters and proshop were super friendly and nice. Because of frost cart path only for the first 4 holes slowed things down a bit but finished in 4 hours. Greens are in wonderful condition. I enjoy the layout of 17 of the hole’s challenging but good risk reward and short pat 5 have tough greens. The exception is 18 which is a poorly designed hole. Blind second shot into narrow green after having to smoke a drive. I don’t mind challenging holes but at least let me see the green . In terms of value, I used hotdeal so rate was $63 with a cart. The $100 fee is not a good value because the course is in good shape but some of the fairways are chewed up. There’ s a casual restaurant and Togo counter-no drink cart but I look at that as a positive. Overall, loved it, and will be back.
The greens were very smooth and fast, especially considering how wet it's been. The fairway grass is brown and dormant, but very playable.
Will play it again.
The course is enjoyable to play. Greens are nice and fast. The course drains water better than many other Bay Area courses.
Nice link style course
tldr: great course for a muni with challenging greens that are well kept for being public. Skip the cart and walk it
Very fast greens for a public muni (we played in mid November so ymmv). Pace of play was good but we played on a Monday of a holiday week.
One thing to keep in mind is that besides the fast greens there are holes where the greens are shielded by multiple traps. Unless you’re a pro and can hit high booming long irons or hybrids, think about laying up and playing an extra shot. IMO that’s kinda over the top for a muni.
Old school golf
I was impressed with the layout and conditions of the course as it reminded me of the links style in Scotland. I have a bushnell yardage watch that would not work as the display showed the old Jack Clark course and the others. Also besides the 150 and 100 yard markers there were no sorrinker heads with yardages so we were playing blind. I would recommend more yardages to help with the pace of play but other than that I thought the course was excellent and will definitely be returning in the future
Relaxing
Playing Corica 9-hole North course is so relaxing!
Gem GC in Alameda
Enjoy my game playing this course. Excellent condition and superb staff!
Will be back (played South course)
Played from the Blues (I’m an average golfer +14) on a Thursday morning.
Fair course with enough distance and undulating greens to keep it challenging and fun. Speaking of greens, they were in fantastic shape.
Pace of play was a little slow given we played on a weekday but the Marshalls kept things in order.
Staff was fine and the value was fair. Getting a tee time for a non-local has always been tricky here but I’d definitely play here again.
Compare to it’s neighbor; Oakland Metro (which I like for what it is), Corica South is a step above.
