No longer a goat path
For years 'Navy' was a run down course. At present it is in the best shape I've ever seen it in 20 years of playing golf here. Easy, fun, great course for the average guy who wants to have a good time and not end up feeling like he was run over by an elephant.
Beautiful and fun golf course
First round since the redesign. Beautiful and fun course to play. Great bargain also in an area of expensive golf. Will be coming back to play as often as possible.
Monterey Pines
Friendly course but no pace management got stuck behind a four ball which took the biscuit. Clubs we rented were incredibly poor different lengths and shaft type with no face. Would only go if you’ve brought your own clubs and have all day to sit and take in the views
Great golf in Monterey!
This course was in really great shape! Good deal--and great golf!
First Time Playing Monterey Pines
I was initially reluctant to play here because total yardage is a little short. I was proven wrong, in that the course more than makes up for shorter yardage with challenging fairways, roughs and greens. The course was in immaculate shape, and the greens played true to my reads. Multiple tees allow any skilled golfer to be challenged.
Nice Course!
Had a good times playing MP on my birthday! Bonus that Caliroots music festival was going on at the same time and was a very cool vibe. Would recommend to other people to play this course.
I know golf can be a family oriented activity but why do people bring their three month baby in a stroller and walk the course!!!! Do golf courses allow that??
Good Value
Good value vs other area courses. Greens in great shape and fast. Sand good, tees and fairways good. So why only 3 stars? The layout is just not that inspiring or memorable. It’s a good place to save money vs other high end area courses. It’s short even from longest tees and some airplane noise from nearby airport. Conditions overall good but not much else to say.
Most value in Monterey area
The Fairways were lush and well-maintained. The bunkers were fair and easy to get in and out of.
Pro Shop staff and the starter were very cordial and helpful. Snack shack food was good and service was great.
This was the fourth time I’ve played This course. The biggest distraction for me is figuring out where the next hole is. There are several places that are too close to the other Tee. I understand that you are limited, by the amount of land you have to work with. The cart could have been cleaner.
Best value.
Best course for the value in Monterey
Excellent experience. Course is in great condition, especially the sand traps and greens. Look forward to playing again.
Greens a little tattered
I would have rated this course higher if the greens were in better shape. Which they have been in the past. The tee boxes, fairways and fringes are all cut and great. The greens had a lot of ball mark sage, and weren’t rolling as true as they usually do. The course layout is basis, perfect for higher handicap golfers, and not a whole lot of diversity throughout the course. They are putting in a new putting green adjacent to the range, that is a lot bigger than the chipping green behind the range.. Overall enjoy coming here and always have a great time.
Beautiful course
I can’t say enough about this course. It is immaculate condition, the staff is friendly and the weather is great. Let’s get out there and play!
Bumpy greens
Piece of place is slow. The course is very crowded and Marshalls don’t do anything to speed up. You don’t even see any Marshalls on the course. I played this course many times and a Marshall never does anything and the pace is always slow. Greens were very tore up a lot of pitch marks with nobody doing any repair.
Some of the best greens and bunkers in the area. Fairways in great shape!
Just a terrific place too play.
The rough is too thick and this made it very difficult to find the golf ball which slowed pace of play.
