Newport Beach Golf Course

this course was horrible to play, I would not recommend anyone to play here. My tee time was 730am and no available carts. The put too much money into the Range.....the golfing range looked better than the whole entire course. the putting greens were fairly descent though , I must admit. You would think this course would be nice cause its in Newport beach area....nope, you would think you are in Compton, Ca. they these fairways looked...Oh by the way, the hitting matts for each hole was terrible. I seen 4 gwagons and several other Hi-end cars, Come on Newport beach, step your game up. I would be willing to invest, but this course would need to shut down for at least a year for renovation purposes. At this point you can charge 50-60$ per game with carts available. sorry newport beach golf course, you get a 1 star from me. the Pizza was fire....yum yum

For now you’re still teeing off mats. By the looks of it you’ll be able to tee off grass soon! Fairways are looking better as well.

I’ll start this off by saying the coarse is great to learn to play. Most tee shots from the mats, it’s a bit of a mad house with lots of people. But all in all we had a great time. Pace of play was slow as this is pretty heavy with amateurs like my self. Greens were really fast but in great shape. The fairways were a bit lackluster as it was more chunky grass and dirt. But the staff was kind and great especially since they were dealing with an issue that happened the night before that was in avoidable. If your learning, want a cheap fun round, this spot is fun just know your not walking into a 5 star coarse.

This place was terrible. I normally don't bash golf courses, restaurants, etc. in reviews but I have to say something.

I played here yesterday with one of my friends, we showed up 10 minutes before out tee time. It took forever to check in for our round and the staff was not very friendly. They couldn't locate my tee time because I made the reservation online so that slowed us up. Once we finally checked in and got to the first tee, there was a line of people waiting to tee off. There were probably 5 separate groups waiting to play. We decided to wait our turn in line even though our tee time was 11:50am and we showed up on time. After waiting for about 10 minutes, someone who worked at the course walked over and asked everyone in line to join into larger groups. They forced us to play in groups of 5 - 7 people with people we did not know because they were "really backed up." They didn't even apologize for the wait or inconvenience. Once we finally got our turn to tee off, maybe 25 minutes after our tee time was supposed to start, all the groups in front of us split up and no longer played in the 5 - 7 person group format. At one point, the "Marshall" who was just a kid wearing sweatpants and had headphones on, drove by us in a golf cart and didn't acknowledge us when we tried to talk to him. He drove past us and down the course. While he was driving he went past 3 groups of people who were not playing in their 5 - 7 person format and slowing down the pace of play and the "marshal" didn't say anything to them. The course is roughly 3000 yards and it took us 3 hours just to complete the first 9 holes. The condition of the course was sub-par and we were not playing off of real tee boxes with grass, everything was off of driving range matts until you got to the fairway or the green.

Once we finished the first 9 holes, my friend and I decided just to leave and not continue playing because it would take too long and we weren't having a good time having to wait 10 - 15 minutes to start each hole. It's a shame because we paid to play the full 18 holes and couldn't stand to be there any longer.

Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone. Even the driving range looked too busy and people had to wait their turn. I would recommend saving your money and going somewhere that maintains the course better and can manage tee times and groups of people. Unfortunately it was just a terrible experience overall and I will never return.

You are hitting off of matt a majority of the time. The greens are way nicer than I was expecting, the best part of the course are the greens no question. Would be a great course to sharpen your short game, yet the pace of play is rough, and flagsticks get left on the ground. I believe they have night golf, looking forward to giving that a go.

Greens were actually in pretty good condition. Fun course now that they have t boxes and you don’t have to just hit from the mats. We had two juniors ahead of us which was painful and did see a party of 8, yea 8 playing a few holes ahead of us which held things up a bit…..

I really like this place. Very enjoyable. Today was a beautiful day. Like this place so much I put in a application .

A friend and I enjoy the golf course but the only thing was that he had his grandson with him and he had to pay for him. He had no clubs and no intentions of playing. The boy was just hanging out with his grandfather. He should not have been charged.

Booked on Golfnow, Did not know that it was only for 9 holes. Thought it was a good deal. Had a 6:40 am tee time. Got to course and asked if we could pay the same price that we booked on golfnow for 9 more holes. Were told no, so we paid the regural price for 18 holes. $25 bucks. My fault for not paying better attention to fine print.

We've noticed every time playing work is constantly being done to improve the course. WELL DONE!

Wide open course. Perfect for beginners. Wish there were more tee boxes off of grass rather than mats. Easy to walk course. No one mentioned there was no hole 17 prior to playing. So we got skimped a hole. Pace was slow but mainly because a lot of beginners or people that want to just have a fun time out book at that course, which I had no problem with.

Newport Beach Golf Course is a decent yardage 18 hole executive course that could use a little love in some areas. It allows you to go through your bag and use just about every club. Some of the tee boxes are really beat to crap and even some of the mats are worn to thes rubber. Most holes offer the option of using mats or tee's. That being said, "I love it"! And yes I'd tell people to play here. The guys in the check in booth are all great guys and they have a cool little bar and earing area as well as a full Pro Shop with EVERYTHING told need to play.
