Pacific Grove Golf Links
About
Originally designed by Chandler Egan in 1932, the first nince holes takes you through the forested areas of Pacific Grove. Egan's nine takes you through an inland terrain and reflects much of the charm of an English rural course done in the old style.
The back nine was designed by Jack Neville, the original designer of the Pebble Beach Links. It opened in 1960, and is laid out in true links design over dunesland that approaches the sea.
Over looking the course is the Point Pinos Lighthouse. Built in 1855, it is the longest continuously operating lighthouse in California. It is a historical sentinel and picturesque landmark of the golf course.
A scenic tour of the dramatic coastline provides views of Lover's Point, Point Pinos, Crespi Pond and the natural dunesland at Asilomar. You will be enchanted by the abundance of natural wonders such as the plentiful Pacific Blacktail Deer, seals, sea lions, sea otters, pelicans and gulls.

View is worth the price of addmission
Great course for the money. I have heard this course describe as the poor man's Spyglass. 9 holes inland, 9 holes on the ocean. Course was in good condition.
Great Little Course
My wife and I played PG and had a picture perfect postcard day and had a great time. We got off early in the morning (0810), played by ourselves and felt like we had the course to ourselves. There was a group a hole ahead and another 2 holes behind. The last time we played here the nines were reversed. It is much better in its current format. Finishing on the ocean 9 was just the capper to a great day. Greens were true and the ball rolled out well. Our best golf experience on our long weekend away.
Love this corse
A great little course back nine has beautiful scenery's
Poor Man's Pebble Beach
The back nine is right along the ocean! Great views and challenging golf holes. Worth the trip to play there, even if we were 30 minutes late to the "Rehearsal Dinner" in Santa Cruz. You get the "Monterey Peninsula" golf experience without breaking the bank.
All About The Back Nine
While the front nine is solid, the back nine is where you get your money's worth. For the low price this course gave stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. I would highly recommend this course to anybody looking to play golf along the water.
Go fly a kite
It was a ridiculously windy day, so the golf was not great. But it was a great day of golf. The course is interesting. Front 9 is straight down and back, while the Back 9 is beachfront golf. I'll definitely play Pacific Grove again, I just hope it is on a mild day.
Beauty on the Peninsula
Could not have asked for a better experience! Friendly people in the proshop and the restaurant and a amazing course, especially the back nine. Enjoyed it and all in our group thought it was a great bargain for the Monterey Bay area. We will be back!
Must play
I realize I play so much golf on so many courses that I should write reviews more often that being said this is one of the better course is that I have played The View phenomenal the course was very good the pace of play was good the staff is very friendly I have nothing bad to say about this course except for the wind which you really can't complain you just make adjustments anytime I plan on coming to Monterey. I will play here again I planned on playing a different course but the weather got bad so this was the only course I played it is a must
pacific grove
very windy day greens were in pretty good shape tee boxes were in rough shape some not even usable but I am ure they will fix still it is like poormans pebble beach great value for spectacular view on back nine.
Fun front
Play on the front nine was fun. The back was a little more difficult, because I had trouble figuring out distances and where to hit. This is a very beautiful course.
day after El Nino
wet, but sunny out,,,and windy on the back 9 ocean side,,,
Great location and value
The back nine of this course has spectacular views and is in good shape
dissapointment
the course lets people play the back nine to start between 7 and 8 a.m., i teed off at 700 on hole 1,i was the 1st one out,and as i got to hole 11 i found out i was behind 4- 2 somes what a TOTAL dissapointment
PG at it's best
Beautiful day, 75 degrees, absolutely no wind, beautiful ocean views, great course condition and deer frolicking on at least 9 of the 18 holes. Weather makes or breaks your day here so check the forecast before you go.
Beautiful Course!
Loved the discount !!!! we golf her a lot and found out about this discount website, will be using it every time!!! Saved us a good amount of money. Love the course back 9 holes are all on the water! Poor mans Pebble Beach!!!!
ocean course
economical ocean course with some challenging holes
Front nine/backnine
The front is hohum, the back is spectular
Pacific Grove
I can't say enough about this course. I've played all the courses in the Monterey area and this, for the money, is my favorite especially if you can get a Golf Now tee time, not always available unfortunately. The front nine is rather mundane but difficult nonetheless especially if you're not a long hitter. Deer get in the way, and we saw a bobcat or other large feral cat prowling the perimeter. But it is the back nine that is magnificent. The poor man's Pebble Beach they say with good reason. I've played the Pebble Beach course and sure it is thrilling but over managed and hugely expensive. The back nine at Pacific Grove rivals Pebble Beach. We played on a holiday but even so not crowded. The Pacific Ocean was roiling, sending mist into the air, and as we teed off late, we got to see the beautiful sunset. Lest you think I work for this course, two negatives: we were held up by a "sixsome" ahead of us and no rangers to ask what are you doing? Second, the first golf cart we got in was dead. We chose another which ran out of power on the back nine - had to call the golf shop to get another cart and I will say they promptly responded. Play this course, you'll love it!
Suoer friendly staff
By now everyone knows this course is the economy version of Penble Beach Greens are small but in perfect shape. Because it's next to the ocean the fairways have been spared from freezing temperatures and Turing brown found at a lot of courses this time of the year.
Sure you get basically the same great views as Penble for a fraction of the cost but what set this course apart for me was the super friendly staff in the pro shop.
I was a first time r playing as a single yet was treated like life long member of an exclusive country club.
Joy on the Pacific Grove Coast
Started with a great deal for cart and play. Breakfast or practice? Breakfast was the option. Service was prompt and friendly. Food was fresh and delicious. The view was incredible. Even witnessed the spouting of several whales. The course was in good shape, deer and a bobcat were unusual hazards on the course. The views of the bay on one side and the ocean on the back side were incredible. Couple that with a clear and sunny day; life in Pacific Grove is good.
