Pacific Grove Golf Links
About
Originally designed by Chandler Egan in 1932, the first nince holes takes you through the forested areas of Pacific Grove. Egan's nine takes you through an inland terrain and reflects much of the charm of an English rural course done in the old style.
The back nine was designed by Jack Neville, the original designer of the Pebble Beach Links. It opened in 1960, and is laid out in true links design over dunesland that approaches the sea.
Over looking the course is the Point Pinos Lighthouse. Built in 1855, it is the longest continuously operating lighthouse in California. It is a historical sentinel and picturesque landmark of the golf course.
A scenic tour of the dramatic coastline provides views of Lover's Point, Point Pinos, Crespi Pond and the natural dunesland at Asilomar. You will be enchanted by the abundance of natural wonders such as the plentiful Pacific Blacktail Deer, seals, sea lions, sea otters, pelicans and gulls.

Poor or Smart man's Pebble
Excellent value in an ocean front Course. Friendly staff, nice ocean view restaurant. No driving range. Play summer twilight or Golfnow.com for specials
Take your Golf Now receipt with you
Jarred ?? offered to move our tee time from 3:50 to 3:10 and assured us it would be same price. When we arrived he charged us tee fees plus cart fee, and since I did not have have my receipt with me I was not 100% sure, and could not prove, the cart was included in the Golf Now price. We arrived 40 minutes before our tee time and Jarred told us we would be called up. The first was open for at least 20 minutes but we did not mind waiting for our assigned time. Then, at 3:08 Jarred called up two late arriving foursomes and sent them out in front of us. When we questioned this we were curtly told to go play the back nine. We have golfed here many times before without any issues and intend to go back, but hopefully we will get to deal with a different staff member next time.
Pacific Grove is a treat for any golfer.
We always enjoy the beauty and play at Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Course. The scenery on the back nine is unbeatable. We come to this area several times a year and always play Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Course.. It's a course that high handicappers can enjoy yet is challenging for anyone. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon in one of the more beauty places on earth.
pour man's Pebble beach
Yes it is short but a lot of fun to play. We will play it again and you should play it. I. Would pay the $35
Green&cRt fee just for the view alone.
Poor Man's Pebble Beach
The tee boxes were nice. Unfortunately the course failed to inform that the greens were recently aerated and sanded. Not worth the GolfNow rate. Not once did the course mention the condition of the greens. I have never been at a course that did not post the fact that the greens were recently punched and sanded. All you can do is hope to get close to the hole. Had I have known, I'd of played Bayonet again or Blackhorse who made it public that the greens were recently aerated.
Play this course
The spectacular back 9 makes this track a must-play while in the area. The pace of play was excellent, and the price was right. Super nice staff. This isn't Pebble or Spyglass, but it's also a tiny fraction of their prices and it's a really good time.
Patience is a virtue
There was no deal on our tee time.
We paid regular rate as if we had just walked in "no deals".
The pace was slow !
But still we had a great time . It was as if we were 10 years old again.
This course has personality.
The front 9 plays through a residential area and the back 9 along the ocean front. Some holes have narrow fairways others wide. There is plenty of variety: water and sand hazards, deer grazing in the fairways, and challenging pin locations. A fun course to play.
Views like Pebble
Poor man's Pebble Beach. Great course with an amazing view of the ocean.
Slooooooow
Had to play behind a ladies tournament. I had to wait 10 minutes EVERY SHOT. I finally got fed up and left after 11 holes. Oh, and the greens were just aerated and super bumpy and sandy. I wouldn't have booked the time had I known that. They knocked off a few dollars when I payed in the shop, which was nice, but not enough to justify the conditions AND the super slow pace. It'll be quite a while before I go back there. The one positive is the staff, especially the superintendent Robert.
Always enjoyable to play!
Went off as an early group so the rate of play was great for us, never delayed or pushed. Course was in good condition with deceivingly fast greens.
Fantastic value
A great course for one who enjoys a great day out and some nice golf. Spectacular views of the ocean and makes an outing a very affordable day.
Excellant worth the cash
What a Gem, back nine just worth the walk, staff excellent, advice just enjoy it. Ken UK
3 18 15 round
Greens and fairways are in outstanding condition. Back nine is so scenic, it's hard to keep watching the course rather than the ocean
ocean
It was great with the ocean right there and cheer than pebble
Great bang for the buck.
I booked on GN for $35 including a cart. I went out right on time but ran into a group that was slower than the rest of the field. finished in 4 hours and 40 minutes.
Greens were in good shape, tee boxes were ok. A couple of the tees were put in places that didn't make sense for the pin placement, but I'm always into a challenge.
Just watch out for the mess the geese make on 16 and 17!
Nice Course
Pacific Grove is a nice course and though it is fairly short, has some challenging holes and beautiful scenery. I enjoyed my round and would definitely play again.
Fun,
Really two different courses. Front nines are longer but pretty straight and open. Back nine is camera time. I almost felt like we were in Hawaii with the sounds of the waves breaking across the beach. Deer all over the place. Compared to other courses in the Pebble Beach area, this one is in great shape and a much better value.
Course with Great Character
PG Golf Links, while a public course, has some great holes along the Ocean. Spectacular views! If you keep the ball in play it's a very enjoyable day! Off the fairway and the trouble can get tough! Great day of golf!
Poor man's Pebble Beach
It's not the longest or most difficult golf course to play, but it is challenging with a lot of variation in fairways, hazards and greens. The views are just spectacular, especially the back nine which is right on the Pacific Ocean side of this course. This is the first time I played this course, andI was told that the front nine was not that interesting. The front nine is on the Monterey Bay side of the course, with several holes overlooking the bay (not too shabby). It is well worth the price and experience.
