Summitpointe Golf Course

Back 9 closed so front 9 plays 2x, not happy about that. The staff was only helpful if you asked them for help like I didn't have to go into the pro shop just to be told to come back 10 minutes before my tee time then to be told I didn't have to come to the pro shop because I'm prepaid and to just go check in with the cart guy on the parking lot. Where’s the 1st tee? I think the staff assumes everyone knows the course and their check-in process. Now being somewhat handicapped and wearing a knee brace nobody told me its cart paths only, I found that out the hard way when the carts auto lock kicked in on the 1st hole about 130 yards from the green. Consequently by the time I got to the 10th tee I quit because my knee couldn’t stand walking the steep terrain and uneven lies. Hey! other than that the view from the course overlooking the South bay was exciting. Just wished my round was too.

Course is under renovation, patches in the greens and sand in the tee boxes. Play front 9 twice to make up 18. Car path only.

This golf course charges you full price but when you get to the golf course, they tell you it’s cart path only. And then after we played the first 9 holes (the hardest and hilliest holes on the course) we learned we had to play it again because the back 9 is closed...cart path only. On GolfNow they did say that the back nine was closed (in fine print...but who reads the fine print?) but the person at the register when we checked in didn’t say anything or made sure we knew the information. If the front register would have said something at check in, we could have made a decision to only play 9 instead of 18. When we complained about these issues at the desk after playing 9, the supposed manager just shrugged us off, gave us his business card to call him next time we want to play....what ever that means....Over all if this is how this golf course is being managed, I say stay away from this horribly managed business establishment.

Staff is very impolite, the back nine was closed but did not get any information from Tee off when we booked the tee time. Staff did not mention anything when check in. Cart was only allowed on Cart path w/o any explanation or reason, the weather is perfect , fairway condition is good.!! but no Cart !

Overall this course is bad.

Course is being repaired, so we played twice on the front 9. New carts had glitches, and are not allowed on fairways (which is problematic for a hilly course like those). Conditions were okay, but still need a lot of improvement on greens and tee boxes especially. Very slow greens. No bathrooms for female golfers except at turn. Price on golf now with hot deal was outstanding, and well worth it. Views here are extraordinary, and the course has great potential. We look forward to the full opening (were told sometime in October) and continued course improvement. With these views, it should be a first-class destination course.

We didn’t find out that the back nine is closed until we got to the 10 hole. When we booked the course or when we checked in, staff or GolfNow never mentioned about this. We are very upset and believe that we should get a refund.

It was only AFTER we finished the front 9 that we were told that the back 9 was closed and we'd have to play the front 9 again to get our 18 in. After paying full price, we we were disappointed if we would have known in advance we would not have booked. We had a 7:20 Tee Time and the with the course already running behind they unfortunately let the slow group that was supposed to be behind us get in front of us! These two things combined made it a painful day for us and we left not wanting to come back again anytime soon. All that being said, with other courses closing these days we were happy to see the obvious investments in the course they are making.

The course reported making upgrades to the front 9 (irrigation and more). So, you play the back 9 twice. My ratings somewhat give them the benefit of the doubt to see how this all plays out.

Most courses in the area came out of the COVID-19 shelter in place in fantastic shape. Not this course. The tee boxes and fairways had quite a bit of hardpan dirt, there was trash scattered along each fairway. Every green was patchy, there were random hoses left over along the fringe on various holes.

This course has the potential to be top drawer. The layout is challenging, but if well maintained will be fair. We'll have to see what it looks like after the renovations on both 9s.

When I was on my way to the first tee some other golfer said the front 9 is closed and we have to play the back 9 twice. There is trash scattered along each fairway, leftover sod piles and tree branches and ditches throughout, every green is patchy, there is random hoses left over along the fringe on various holes. This place has NO CLASS for not telling me the front 9 was closed even when I checked in, a random golfer had to let me know.

Prepaid GolfNow fee of $35. Arrived at course and they had a sign....FRONT NINE CLOSED. The never posted that on any site.

The back nine is in terrible shape. Gtrens are awful.

And...the marshall....when he was not hitting balls at empty holes....had the personality of a porcupine.

Now....Summitpoint is a poor course on the best of days. But.....now it's a complete disaster.

We were excited to head out for the first foursome since re-opening. Booked 18 holes with a cart. Got to the course and found out we had to play the back 9 twice. NOT the same as 18 holes!! Golf carts were all in terrible shape. Two of the carts in our group kept dying. Finally at the 18th hole my friends cart couldn’t take it anymore and just died.

The last straw was ordering 4 shots of fireball and polish dogs after the turn. We got something that looked similar to fireball but tasted terrible .when we went back to ask about it we were told “oh yeah, it’s probably just old and sat in the sun for 2 months. Then we were made to pay for 2 shots more ...in order to get two new shots from a new bottle. Quite the scam! Very disappointing.

I have played Summmitpointe many times over the years and well... it's been up and down. One usually can get a good deal there, but that's about the largest positive. RIGHT NOW, however...they are doing everything right. They are currently doing irrigation work on the front nine, so one plays the back nine twice. To me that's a good thing because I think the back nine is far superior to the front in all ways. The back nine is walkable, the front is not. In any case they do a great job of spacing things. Today I played with two other gents in less than three hours. Conditions are very good. They use a small PVC pipe in the hole which to me is great - it's real putting - as opposed to the raised cups which are goofy (just slam it at the cup and it's "good"), All in all I was very impressed and I will go again.

People who work there are rude.
