The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch
About
The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch (previously known as Salinas Golf & Country Club) in Monterey boasts a reputation as "the friendliest club in the area." Opened in 1925, it's also known as one of the area's oldest clubs though they are loathe to label themselves as "traditional". The golf course sprawls across rolling countryside dotted with mature trees and the occasional water hazard. Originally opened as a nine-hole layout, the golf course may appear somewhat short at just over 6,200 yards from the back tees but don't underestimate its level of difficulty. It's a tight layout that demands accuracy, especially when navigating the small greens. There is plenty of variety at The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch, you may even find yourself using all the clubs in your bag. The golf course finishes with a stunning view of Salinas Valley from an elevated tee. The fairway slopes downhill to a well protected green guarded on the left with trees and on the right with bunkers.

FUN TRACK
THE DAY WOULD HAVE BEEN PERFECT IF THE RESTAURANT WAS OPEN PAST 4:40 PM ON A WED.
REALLY FUN COURSE TO PLAY DUE TO HILLY LIES AND VARIED TERRAIN.
Thumbs up.
This is a very nice course, it's a jewel, hardly anyone was there later in the afternoon. The staff was friendly and very helpful, the carts were fairly new, the course was in good shape. The rough could have been mowed it was thick. The greens were in good condition although tricky to putt on and the fairways were nice as well. Elevated tees and blind spots and never really a flat spot to hit off of makes the course challenging but fun. It's really quiet there and the scenery is really nice, a lot to see and take in. I'd definitely play this course again. So I give The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch a thumbs up.
Cool Breeze
Got out of the triple digit heat and even though breezy a nice afternoon on a prize jewel layout.
Hidden gem in salas
Think of it as a cheaper version of carmel valley ranch but in the fields haha. Course is nice, alot of elevated tee boxs, club house has good food, players there are nice and will return things to pro shop if lose cause its semi private.
Great changes
The course is immaculate. Not long, but greens are small and fast. A few hole setup changes on some of the holes. Well thought out and designed. Pro shop and dining room/bar well staffed and friendly. 5 star!!
Great Course
Well manicured greens and fairways. Friendly staff. Great restaurant.
Hilly
We played mid-week and followed a local scrambles tournament. We had two groups wave us through, which was very courteous. We ended up playing in three hours. The starter also moved our start time up to better get us into the flow of the tournament. Classy for a private club that just has three tee times a day for non-members. You really need a cart here, very hilly. Well maintained greens, but some of the tee boxes are close to greens, so be ready to yell "four" on occasion. Will play again.
This course is in great condition from tee to green.
Fairways were nicely groomed and the greens were playing at a fast speed.
Great day
4some drove from san jose 1 hour each way. Well worth the drive. Best round in years on many local courses. Pace, weather, conditions, facility, all EXCELLENT..
What an awesome golf course!
The conditions have improved dramatically since the new owner took over. Everything was in great condition. Small greens and fast!
Will definitely come back. The only disappointment was the bar/grill was closed.
What a nice find!
I was pleasantly surprised to see how well the course conditions were. Greens are small & fast. Very nice layout with lots of ups & downs. Will definitely return.
