Good course in San Francisco
I always enjoy playing Lincoln in San Francisco. The seventeenth hole has iconic views of the Golden Gate Bridge
Spectacular Day at Lincoln Park
We had a great day! The weather was clear and winds calm. I little soft in spots due to rain. Looked like they just sanded the greens (very slow). We had the place to ourselves. Spectacular view of Golden Gate Bridge from 17!!
Hills to the max
Don't let anyone tell you this is a walking course. Unless you are in your 20's, this is a very hilly course and you will be worn out after 9 holes if you walk. That said, it is a challenging layout and in pretty good shape following the rainy winter. Greens are true and puttable.
Weekday pace of play was fine. The clubhouse is nothing to brag about. But Lincoln Park is a real value for SF residents.
If the price is right.
It has been 7 and a half years since I last played this course. Beautiful scenery this day, very clear. The course is pretty much the same, greens were in good shape, fairways needed a little work but could blame that on the recent rains, very wet in places and some players probably should not have driven carts out there. The course is not long but a lot of blind and uphill shots. Walkable for the most part even thought some holes go up at a pretty good pace. I will play it again as I like the area. Finished the round in a little over 3 hours with another single. I would say bring your camera as I got some beautiful shots of the Farallon Islands and the Golden Gate. The facilities are old but they are clean. This isn't a 5 start resort, it is a city golf course, more of a starter course for those just starting, just remember that and you will enjoy the course.
Not worth the money for non-SF Residents...
Even though there are some stunning views of San Francisco - including the Golden Gate Bridge - along the way, this course is poorly maintained, badly supervised and, in some places, downright dangerous. This is because the cart paths are poorly marked, the public (mostly tourists) is allowed to walk near or in the way of the golf carts and in some cases in the path of flying balls - no fencing or nets - with no marshalls in site. Did I mention no driving range!!
My advise...if you really want to play within the City of San Francisco, pay more and play Presidio. At least you'll be able to enjoy a real golf course setting and not a public walking park.
While playing, we wondered whose liability would be should you hit a person walking on or near the course with an errand drive: the City, the victim or YOU?
Course needs work
The tee boxes were in terrible shape, either not cut or no grass, sand only. The greens were in great shape, but very slow and bumpy. There should be a discount for the greens fees with the shape of the course.
Very Short, Very Easy Course
Only 1 par 5. Several par 4's are less then 300 yds. but this course is still fun because it requires you to hit a good iron tee shot and 2nd shot. However, you'll rarely ever have more than a pitching wedge in with your approach shot.
Greens were slow and bumpy in some spots, which stinks because when you stoke a good putt you aren't really rewarded.
Challenging par 3's with 3 of them over 200 yards. In fact 16 and 17 are 230+ yards from the Blue Tees.
A few tee boxes were poorly maintained, 18 was terrible and 2 was sloping.
They just got about 15 new golf carts, which they needed desperately - their old lawnmowers were cool in that they didn't have governors but let's just say the alignment was off a bit with those puppies.
the best thing was the price!!!!
Where to start..
*The bathrooms are a from the 1920's and "not" kept up
*The folks in the club house were definitive
*NO...NO..NO... not one sign or way to determine how far the pin was or is
* score cards I sure were there but not there easy
*The grounds were just untouched for years
* The 17th hole of the key hole is a great par 3 199 yards
*YES...YES...YES it is a public course but there are public courses that are not that BAD
***That enough, right
Beautiful views, average course, poor cart management
The views of San Francisco bay are better than at the Presidio golf course, but the fairways are not as well maintained. Most players walk, so the pace of play on weekends can be slow. Golf carts are not reserved with tee times, and there aren't enough of them; as a result players often have to wait for a cart to return, which means not starting at the scheduled tee time. But once on the course you'll find challenges. Precise tee shots are important, even though the course is short. A couple of 240-yard par 3s on the back nine will test any player.
Good value
Nice course for the price and can't beat the views. They redid the greens so they are a lot nicer than last year.
Lincoln Park golf experience
This course is perfect. Great views of the city. If you want a relax and enjoy some golf this is the place.
Rough round
I played Lincoln many years ago and I told myself then I would not be back. Well here I am.course was in better shape than I was mentally prepared for.. Greens are ok (which I was ok with) but the pace of play was PAINFULL !! I had to stop after 12 holes. It was hack city !! Sorry!! I encourage beginners to play!! But not from the tips! A saw the Marshall once and never saw him pushing the pace!
Unpolished gem
Beautiful views of SanFrancisco a area, but course Lhasa been poorly cared for. There is of course the drought which has certainly taken its toll, holes aren't well marked and the carts are in disrepair.all that being said, I would recommend it
Horrible course condition
No grass on entire 18th hole. Every other hole only had spots of green grass. Greens were not taken care of. Pace was very slow. The very old carts were not reliable and cost 26 just to ride. More than what I paid in green fees.
not my dream course.
This was not my favorite course. First of all, it was in TERRIBLE condition. The greens were super slow and super bumpy. The other problem is that you don't know which hole is which. I ended up just finding a random hole and playing. Definitely not a good course.
Watch out for the hidden fees
Booked on GolfNow 4 players, $30 each. We got there and the clubhouse wanted $60 each for all of us to ride. Need to walk and have a residence card for the GolfNow price. A round at this course is not even worth $30. The greens have flowers and crabgrass all over them. All different speeds. Next time we'll just play Presidio for $20 more.
Great location but lots of work needed
The location of Lincoln Park Golf Course is incredible. Tucked right in the middle of San Francisco, on the Bay with amazing views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Legion of Honor.
If you're considering a round at this course, please only do it for the views. Not the golf.
The course is in terrible condition. The greens are all poa annua and simply unplayable. No signage to make it easy to find the next hole. If it weren't for the views and the weather this would have been one of the most miserable rounds of golf I've ever played.
Carts
The carts are too noisy and should be electric. Had to keep pressing on the pettel a couple times before it started to go. Also I had to keep playing around with the choke on the golf cart just so it could move. Its a golf course with beautiful views that should be the only reason why people love it. Other then that crystal springs is a professionals Golf course.
Please Update Lincoln!!!
It's a shame that such beautiful land and layout is wasted by a lack of maintenance and effort. The conditions are absolutely atrocious. The greens are the worst I've played anywhere in the world. The fairways and rough are indistinguishable from one another. The tee boxes are all 80% dirt, 20% weeds and dead grass. The golf carts are rusty old exhaust spewing, noise polluting, rattletraps. There is zero concern about pace of play, number of players in a group, or signage around the course. Unless you've played here before you won't know where to go to find your next tee box. Our round took 6 hours to complete.
The only saving grace is that the scenery is unbelievably gorgeous. The only reason I come to Lincoln is for the views. I'm mystified that the city of SF doesn't take a little bit of pride in this little gem and resuscitate it with and infusion of time and money. It has an incredible amount of old weather-beaten features that with a little bit of effort, could be turned into charming attractions.
