Nice course
A very well manicured course, wide fairways, w very little rough. Got a bit boring odd the tee, as lots of the same. Greens have huge undulations which may be unfair once the greens speed up
Might be a bit overpriced for the Surprise area
Hi John,
Thank you for your review. - Ryan S.
Worth the money!
Top notch facility and staff! Hope to play the course again.
Thanks for the great review. We appreciate that you chose Sterling Grove and hope you play the course again as well! - Ryan S.
Thank you for the review. - Ryan S.
Thanks for the glowing review! - Ryan S.
Greens are a joke. Mickey Mouse, just need a windmill and some colored balls.
Thanks for your review. Our greens are certainly challenging, which is the main defense of the course being that we have wide open fairway corridors and far less desert than most Valley courses. While the greens may be a shock on your first round due to their uniqueness, on subsequent rounds many golfers begin to grow fond of the undulation. The undulation can be found on many courses throughout the Country but not so much in Phoenix. - Ryan S.
Thank you for your 4-star review. Hope to see you again soon. - Ryan S.
Challenging
I have played the course just before and right after overseeding. Conditions were better than one would expect. Can’t wait to play it at its best condition it will be really challenging
Thank you for the review and 5-stars. Glad you enjoyed the course and conditions.
Ryan, GM
Nice Layout greens are wicked
This was my second time playing Sterling. It’s a great layout, everything is right in front of you. Course was in ok shape since it was the day before over-seed, greens brown and very dry but rolled well. They are very fast with tons of contour. The greens keeper must have been cranky, pins in crazy hard places. It’s a great new addition to the west valley, will definitely play it again in November when it reopens.
to new
staff failed to ware mask in pro shop even though signage indicated they wanted me to ware mask. wanted
to put me on a cart with someone I did not know unless I wanted to pay more. missing directions from hole to hole. only one working bathroom on links style course.
greens were so fast they were difficult to putt on I have played on 13's and these were faster at times than that
If you didn't like the course then don't go back. I personally love the course. And they don't make you wear masks in pro shop. Just like every other course or business they "strongly recommend" but not enforce. If you want that, maybe the Sun City courses would fit you better. GPS actually has detailed directions of where to go, but even if it didn't, just follow the cart path. Very easy to navigate. Being paired with another golfer, even if you don't know them, is part of the fun of golf meeting people that have the same passion for the game as you. Greens are very fast. Good rule of thumb is to make a stroke on a putt for half the distance of actual putt(30' putt hit like a 15' putt). Bathrooms are in process of being built on #3 and #14, so yes they have temporary until then. I think I covered all your complaints. I know this course probably kicked your butt, as it has mine at times. Enjoy your golf outings instead of berating very good courses.
3 Putt
You better bring your Putting A game to this course. Check that Chipping A game errrr Iron A game. I thought Quintero had tough greens, this course is a monster. Typical Nicklas design with generous landing area off the tee but after that hang on. Clubhouse still under construction but the course was really good shape for just opening up. Will definitely want to tackle it again. Only problem was finding it as my Garmin GPS couldn't find it.
Great greens
Even though drying out a little for overseeing, greens rolled great! Some of the best greens around. Tough but fair. Would recommend.
Hello, thank you for the review and the compliments on the well manicured course. - Ryan S.
