Great golf course
My friends and I don't ask for alot other than nice greens, generally flat tee boxes and good course conditions. The pace of play was even good. Overall great experience here will try again
SJ Muni, My Happy Place
Lock in another fun round at my home course with my golf buddies. Course wasn’t summer dry at all. Greens were a little dotted up with marks but that’s not management’s fault. This day pace of play was slow because we were behind some golfers that just didn’t rush at all while taking selfies and hitting unlimited mulligans. I have endless patience so as long as we did finish, it’s all good. No birdies today but somehow I shot a 88. I rather shot a 95 with one birdie but I count everything. Staff was friendly, carts were clean, so can’t ask for much more. Next weekend, I’m due to make at least 3 birdies. Way overdue.
Great for a muni.
The only issues I had with the course was rough around the greens was crazy long and there was a lot of choppy areas just off the fairway. Greens were great, and fairways were very nice for a muni. Tee box’s weren’t perfect but no major issues on most of them. Probably the best bang for your buck in the South Bay and maybe even the east bay and peninsula.
Decent course
Greens and tee boxes were in good condition. Greens were a little slow but not surprising with the draught. Fairways were good but not consistent.
Flat, wide open, long enough, my happy place
This is my home course. I always get excited when I know I’m golfin here that day. It’s a great challenge for my 12 handicap. I’m tired of courses that are not a par 72. SJ muni is 6700 yards, par 72 from the tips. The par 3’s are a good variety of length. 142-193yards. The par 4’s are well designed. The par 5’s are risk/reward with a couple reachable with a solid driver, and then 3 wood. Tee boxes are flat, fairways are in good shape, and even tho the greens are marked up with ball marks, they roll at a good consistent speed. Yeah, sometimes we wait for slow players but as long as we finish, it doesn’t bother us at all. It’s a little pricey. We pay $64 with a cart on the weekend. In all, I’m making a ton of good memories here with my golf buddies. My happy place.
Brutal pace of play
The Good: course was in good shape. Receptive greens and well conditioned fairways. Nice warm up and practice facilities.
Have played here many times in the past and usually enjoy it.
The Bad: Teed off as a threesome at 12:40 pm and didn’t make the turn till about 3 pm. Waited on all holes and when we got to 10 tee we were waiting to tee off as two groups in front of us were still at the tee box. On pace for over a 5 hour round was too much for a Tuesday so I needed to jet. I asked for a 9 hole refund/rain check and was asked to fill out a form and I would get a call from their ‘operations manager’. Still have not heard back! Needless to say this experience was pretty bad.
Pro shop staff
First impression of golf course is very important and when you walk in you want to feel that you are welcomed. What’s wrong with the guy at the pro desk? He sounds very rude for sure.
Money money money money
I wish the city would put up some money to make it better.
Like why not it the only course around in a big city like San Jose have a little pride. Instead talking out the side of your necks.
