Enjoyable Trek
In Fla for a week of golfing with brothers and father celebrating his 96th birthday. (Who will also play every round played and will play well). Having only played 2 rounds , poorly, this year my first outing on this trip was exceptionally bad and was very discouraging . So in lieu of a scheduled off day my father suggested that we get to the practice range and then play 9 holes. It was a marvelous afternoon, notably for the improved golf resulting from my father’s tips on the range, but equally for the course. The 9 holes we played was a nice combination of par3’s, par4’s, and par 5’s. The course was in good shape approaching great as weather gets warm and offered plenty of challenges to work on the game. Greatly enjoyed and will book another round on this trip.
Great Track for all ages and handicaps
I definitely would recommend this for the whole family.
Different set of tees can create a challenge for all skill level.
Buy plenty of water at check in there was no beverage carts and I believe only one water fountain that I recalled.
Greens were in great shape especially for February.
Hidden Gem!
This course is a hidden gem! Located right around the corner from Sawgrass this 9 hole course is a ton of fun. Course is in phenomenal shape year round, greens are always rolling fast and true. My favorite thing about this course is the 6 hole par 3 course they call the Beer Loop. Grab a drink and play some laid back golf! On Friday’s they host skins games where you can win a skin and make some serious money. Free beers and golf, what’s better than that! Stick around after the skins game and hangout on the patio where they have a music, full liquor bar and great vibes. Best atmosphere in town, definitely worth checking out.
Great greens, not a fan of the tee box or driving range mats
First time playing the yards. The course has an odd design and some of the holes feel crammed together. Turf is in great condition in all playable areas, might have been slightly overwatered, but was consistent around the loop. Greens were tremendous, very quick and some well placed undulations. I would like it if they kept every par 3’s and 4’s but overall it was a fun little course. I will be interested to see if they can maintain its current level in the future, but with all the great courses nearby I’m sure they will get consistent traffic from people looking for fun and a different style of play.
Has potential
I played the course for the first time. cart paths were in great shape, as were the greens. Greens were very fast but not unreasonable. The course was in better than average shape and it was a fun layout to play (I only played the front nine). The range didn't have a lot of grass where we were supposed to hit so could have been managed better. I did not see a practice chipping/putting area. There is still a lot of construction going on around the clubhouse so it will be interesting to see what the final product will be. Definitely worth a return visit. Note: The $42 amount was for 9-holes which seemed a bit pricey for what I got.
Great Golf Experience
I really enjoyed playing The Yards. It is in the same complex as TPC Sawgrass. The course was in great condition for the middle of January. It is a challenging but playable 9 hole course. There are 3 additional par 3’s but those seemed more like “fillers” that consumed extra land they had. There are plenty of strategically placed bunkers and water comes in to play on most of the holes. But for the most part, the fairways are large and so are the greens. However, the greens are challenging. They are fast and there is a lot of elevation changes. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The entire experience was great and well worth the 50 minute drive from St. Augustine.
Beware! Only 9 holes, then 3 par 3’s and they don’t let you play it twice
9 holes were nice but we thought we could play 18 and were extremely disappointed especially with the relatively high cost.
