Golfer Reviews
Golfnow cautions
WARNING double triple quadruple check your golfnow bookings. For some reason, and this is not the first time, while you are booking advanced dates golf now will return to current date. I have had this happen twice. Lucky on the first one, the course let me play on the date I thought I had scheduled. This time, when I was going to cancel for rain and course closure, I realized it was already passed. Getting in contact with any one after has been unfruitful. So, I played the course yesterday afternoon, not through golfnow. I am so frustrated with golfnow.
Hopefully Gets Better!
I booked online through the app and only learned of numerous temporary greens upon arrival. Unfortunately I had already paid and gone out of my way to play here so I pushed through. While the temp greens weren’t ideal, I’ll give the course staff credit for trying and hopefully they bring the greens back to form soon. Frankly, I am more disappointed with TeeOff for not providing any info or giving a heads up about the renovations during the booking process. Will be back but likely in a month or two.
Rough Cut Diamond
I have played several courses around Savannah and Hilton Head Island over the years and have always been curious about this small town course. My friend and I were very impressed with the condition of the amenities, including the Clubhouse and grill. The golf cart was very nice, and looked nearly new. The course itself is very nicely designed and the layout makes for some fun golf. The only negative we experienced was a few torn greens. Not sure if they have some rodent issues or if they were killing invasive grass. The good news is the grounds crews are actively working to improve conditions and they introduced themselves to us to apologize for the rough conditions found on some of the greens. Our overall opinion is, this is a course we will undoubtedly revisit again soon.
Great Time
There were three to four greens that needed a little TLC however the rest of the course was four star my partner and I were very happy with the pace of play conditions of the fairway and the greens that did not need any TLC we're above average. We had a great time and the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating I will be back.
Rough course conditions
Layout is nice but conditions of fairways and tees are poor greens are terrible. Does not drain well. New bar restaurant is awesome and fairly priced.
Lost Plantation
Pace of play, staff, price, and layout was nice. The greens could be in better shape but overall it’s a decent course to play on. Will be back in the future
Great layout! Bare spots on greens
Lots of Bare spots on the greens! Tees and fairways good
Good course, odd greens
The course was overall rather nice, I enjoy the layout and the general condition of the course is good. The only complaint is that the greens were crusty and they smelled like they had been watered with the muck from from a stockyard. Some of the greens also had a strange patchy growth that made it putting around a bunch of large coins that had been scattered over the green.
Yikes
In almost 20 years of playing this course, this is the worst I've ever seen it. Not sure if it was the harsh winter, vandalism, or neglect, but the greens are significantly blighted and fairways & tee boxes are sparse and weedy. Some of the teeing areas were placed where there was no grass at all.
We like to support our local muni, so we are hoping that things improve dramatically throughout the Spring.
Course conditions were poor but most appeared to be winter damage. Greens were especially poor condition
Have played here several times but always in March which may be the reason it was in poor condition
Perhaps it’s in better condition during summer months. .
Restaurant wasn’t open. No chance to take advantage of 19th hole.
Nice course, needs a lot of love....
This course has a lot of promise, it just needs a lot of love from the staff. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens all need some serious love. Some of the greens are 3/4 burnt, fairways cut to the point of being hardpan, Very wet, low lying fairways as well. Has promise, just needs time and love.
Going down hill
Haven’t played this course since November. I’m not sure what happened but they should be putting money into the course instead of getting new carts. The greens are in terrible condition. Hold 2 is basically a sand pit for the green. It’s a nice course in the summer but right now not worth playing.
Ehhh
I play this course a lot mainly because it’s right here in town. The greens are in desperate need of repairs. The staff tend to not be very friendly and well sometimes grumpy.
The course has a good layout and it is challenging at times. Just needs some love and repairs.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us! The maintenance crew has been actively sprigging 8 of the greens. The “torn grass” that you see is actually the sprigging process. It looks very strange but the end result will be beautiful! Hope to see you back soon!
