Moffett Field Golf Club

Have played this course a few times. Came here on this past Sunday and found swarms of mosquitos in all the deep grass areas! These mosquitos are super aggressive in that they attack you and follow you all throughout the course. I couldn’t even finish the first 9 holes and decided to take off and save myself from becoming these nasty mosquitos lunch! Spoke to the staff that day, and he said that vector controls (city department) was suppose to be spraying and responsible for the pest control on the course. Apparently they didn’t spray the day before or for a while…

Golfers beware…

Walked off after only playing 12 holes. Apparently they run tournaments on weekends. Wait was two deep on every hole. Marshall did nothing to move things along. Nice track. Will try again in future and hope no tournament.

This course has been well managed over the past few years. Everything continues to improve to the point where it has become a very solid deal to play here.

The course is fairly straightforward. The greens are flat and were a little slow yesterday but looked like they had been punch a few weeks prior.

Having fighter jets flying around only adds to the experience!

The mosquitoes were relentless! Bring bug spray!

Played from the blues and wow, this was a challenge of my tee to green game. The layout really forces you to play appropriate shot shapes and to play to landing spots off the tee. I found myself being forced to play a lot of 200-240 yard tee shots which left me with long iron approaches into medium sized but flat greens. The greens were very firm and fast but if you could get your putts started on line there wasn’t much break at all. Greens were in very good shape and there were not many pitch marks.

Definitely recommend the course because it is a different type of challenge compared to most muni courses that I’ve played. Greens were well protected by bunkers but the sand in them was fluffy and very playable, so going into them wasn’t the death sentence that most muni bunkers are.

All in all, a fun challenge and I can’t wait to play it again some day!

Who cares about the wind. Embrace it. Beautifully groomed course. The grass is very consistant. Choice of club use will be a part of the challenge. Watering of course front 9 begins promptly by 8pm. So don’t lag if you play a late round.

I last played this about 15 years ago as a guest. The greens and bunkers are much improved and in very good condition. The fairways could use some work. The layout is a flat urban style but long and challenging.

Interesting/cool experience to play on a Military base w/ helicopters above and airplanes on the tarmack. The course is well layed out with lots of interesting holes.

This is a fun course to play, staff very friendly. Sadly, pace of play is no longer a valued component to our great game. Even w/ tee time 10 min apart, there is just SO much slow play...5 hr 35 min round (painful).

I know people comment on the winds playing at Moffett, but I played yesterday with a consistent two club wind that was extreme even for here. This course is a great value, it’s really hard to find a better place to play regularly to improve your game. As has also been noted the greens are always in great shape so you can just hit it the distance that you know you can with any particular club, and if you hit a good shot, the ball stops on the green. Because the greens are in such good shape, you can always put fairly well. Except for yesterday, when the winds were just crazy. But that again was unusual. The course did suffer a bit of damage from the heavy January rains, but it’s coming back nicely. The staff is super friendly and the restaurant has a great hamburger. I should also note that the sand in the bunkers is of a very high quality. No one wants to be hitting out of a bunker, but at least the nice sand let’s you give it your best shot.

One fantastic day on the course. And then I saw my score :(
