The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort
About
The King & Prince Golf Course winds through the mature forests and vast salt marshes that are located along the northern coast of St. Simon's Island. The beautifully preserved surroundings offer a glimpse of the native wildlife, which includes ospreys, woodpeckers, and bald eagles. The course offers stunning coastal scenery and a challenging layout. The layout features a more open front nine with more sand while the back nine is characterized by the golf course's trademarks, four island holes that were carved from small coastal marsh island and accessed by elevated cart bridges. Numerous marshes and the vast Butler Lake make an appearance on seven holes. Golfers can warm up before a round on the expansive putting and chipping greens or the driving range, which is equipped with five target greens.

King and Prince vs. Sea Palms
There are two main golf courses at St. Simons for the public to play: Sea Palms (SP) vs. King and Prince (KP). Below I compare and contract the two.
Cart: SP has a more comfortable cart by far. It includes a map of the hole locations. KP has a ball and club washer on the cart, but mine was muddy water. I doesn't seem like they changed the water. SP offers a towel in their card; KP does not.
Practice Range: For the price of these courses, they should give you free range balls. They don't. KP has a better facility which is near the clubhouse with a putting green, chipping green. The grass to hit range balls was below average (we found a few balls laying around and hit those) and doesn't replicate a lie in the fairway. SP range is a bit far away. The putting green is near the clubhouse at SP.
Tee Boxes: about the same for both courses
Fairways: about the same for both courses
Greens: Soft. Very soft. Very slow.
Signage: Neither course has maps of the holes on the scorecard or tee boxes.
Slope/Yardage: KP had a very nice combo of tees to choose from so that we could get the yardage and slope that we are used to. I would recommend that SP adjust their scorecard similarly. The yardage from the tips was a bit too far, but from the next one in, it was a bit low. I nice combination of these two would have been perfect.
Value: Paid $65 for SP and $80 at KP.
Course: KP had some lovely signature holes created within the marsh. SP was a great course as well. KP is located all the way on the north side of the island; SP is seems like it is right in the middle of town.
My recommendations: It would be really hard to walk KP due to the "marsh" holes. But I could easily see walking SP if I wanted to. For the money, the amenities and the proximity of course to where we were staying (East Beach), I would choose SP over KP.
Fun Course
We had a great round the day before so came back for another round before our vacation came to an end. Will hopefully be back!
Fun Island Holes
We had a great time playing this course. Play was quick, and the course was in great shape. The island holes with a boardwalk cart path were fun. We saw some deer, gators, and turtles along the way
Great time
Weather starting to cool down. Course in great condition. Staff very friendly helpful
Challenging Course
The course provides some daunting tee shots, which I loved. The general condition of the course was good and little to complain about. For what I had paid for playing in the afternoon, I thought the price was good to fair for the quality and condition of the course. However, had I paid $100+ I’m not quite sure it lives up to that standard. Regardless, I thoroughly enjoyed the layout and requires a good bit of course management to get results.
It was fairly busy and the pace of play was hard to judge as I was playing single ball, but everyone seemed happy to let me play through when required.
I didn’t give 5 stars for the staff, not because they were in anyway rude but I have certainly had greater level of friendliness and welcoming at other courses in the area.
The course is in great shape and absolutely gorgeous! Can’t wait to play it again
Beautiful Day
Thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Very nice course in great shape.
Fun course with good pace of play
First time we played this course and really enjoyed it. The front nine is nice, but the back nine was really fun to play. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed talking with Rick about the history and evolution of the course. Restaurant was average, but all the golf was very enjoyable. We will be back!
A piece of golfers Heaven
This is one of our favorite places to play when we come South. The marsh holes are spectacular
Favorite public course in South Georgia
Course layout is my favorite in South Georgia for a public course. Staff is always amazing and course is always in great shape.
Best course I’ve ever played!
The checking was the easiest and fastest I’ve ever had before. They really do treat you like a king it seems like haha. The course was in amazing condition. The fairways were the best I’ve ever played on before. The holes out in the marsh are very cool, you can see at least 10 miles out there.
