Castle Oaks Golf Club

My husband and I played here for the first time this past week. Beautiful day, nice greens and a fair amount of water! We each lost ball on the first hole in the “pond”. Would definitely play it again.

Enjoyable round in the heart of gold country. Couldn’t imagine a better Sunday than playing golf with my wife on a super fun, super fare course. We will be back soon.

I use to love this course but that’s all changed now. I got to the course early so I could hit some range balls and the guy in the pro shop wanted me to go straight to the first tee now and I was at the course 45min early for my tee time. I got some range balls and he was still wanting me to go early. So I went and started my round at my tee time and was nice except the pace of play was terrible and of course there’s no course marshal to help speed it all up. When at the turn the snack bar was closed so that left me hungry for the rest of the day. When mowing the grass near the greens at least you could do is catch the grass and not leaving it all clumped up on and around the green. There’s some watering issues that could be fixed to stop making it like a swamp in certain places

Bunkers full of water - first cut of rough was 3 inches or more - all the greens had high berm edges of 4 inches making impossible putts from inches off the green

Course tee to green in good shape. The day we played the greens were a little sandy and lumpy.

Unfortunately this course has gone downhill. Fairways are hard and full of patches of grass and weeds, dead spots everywhere including on the greens. Tee box’s are horrible! Greens roll decent but hopefully your line to the hole doesn’t have a dead spot. I used to enjoy playing here but now it’s just in rough shape. Besides 1 maintenance guy doing a bunker there was no one else working the course. Range is rough as well balls are beat up, would not recommend hitting any of your clubs. I did not pay attention and ended up with deep scuff marks on my drivers face.

Another good day golfing with my buddies. The course was in good condition and well maintained. It was a difficult day putting as the early morning was wet and drizzly making the greens slow but within 30 min of the rain stopping the greens dried and rolled true and much faster. Highly recommend this course.

Always enjoy playing Castle Oats. It’s a beautiful course.

The course has great layout with dog-legs, water hazards. Ball placement is a must on some shots for good approach shots to the green. Greens were hard this weekend, balls tend to roll more that expected on approach shots. However, greens rolled very nice. The only negative experience I like to note is the range...there were hardly any grass to hit off of. You are basically hitting off dirt.
