The Club at Savannah Harbor
About
The Club at Savannah Harbor is steeped in Southern charm, offering dramatic views that span from the surrounding wetlands of the Back River to Savannah's famous Historic District. Sam Snead and Bob Cupp designed the golf course. Their ultimate goal was to bring to life the philosophy of "risk and reward." For example, a well executed shot placed near a hazard is rewarded with less club to the green or a better approach angle, or even both. The putting surfaces have gentle transitions to different pin locations, making them more traditional than modern. The designers incorporated another classic design element, the greens have subtle roll-offs or collars that fall away, a feature of golf courses from the 1930s and 40s. Golfers can also use the club's large, duel-ended practice facility.

This course is a true delight and pure joy
Everybody is so friendly here, and I really mean everybody: from the bag drop, to the golf shop, starter, ranger, all the way to the cart lady etc. You know it’s classy here when the range balls are complimentary.
The course is well designed as you start with easier holes and can get yourself warmed up and in a groove before encountering the tougher holes (#6,7). Spectacular views of Savannah and its river. Picturesque holes with the just the right mix of bunkers, doglegs, trees and ponds. Finally, a course designed for the real public and not with pro golfers in mind ! Forget the long carries, impossibly thick rough, elevated turtle-back greens your ball can’t hold ! You will truly enjoy every shot and never forget your round there. Can’t wait to come back.
Great course
Greens still healing from early June punch but very playable; otherwise, course was in excellent shape. We will most definitely be back soon.
What happened to the tee boxes?
The course was generally in good shape, but the tee boxes were completely chopped up as if there was some problem with the mowers. Greens were still a bit bumpy from a recent aeration.
Disappointing
I understand greens need to be aerated but that should be disclosed before payment. The rough was not mowed, the mosquitos were unbearable, the pace of play slow.
Overall
Course layout and fairways were beautiful and pace of play was great!!! However greens weren’t in the best shape they were recently punched but that’s not the only problem you can see where they drive on them to do work leaving tracks. I would play again and recommend a friend during winter or spring as the mosquitos were TERRIBLE!! I used a whole can of off and still have a lot of bites.
Great Golf Course
Had an incredible round of golf playing with my wife and teenage boys. The course was in great shape even after it having stormed the day before. I had been concerned about the mosquitoes based upon the other reviews, but there were none on any of the holes. It was breezy out, so maybe that’s what kept them away. I got a great deal on GolfPass but it was worth way more. Will definitely play again next time I’m passing through.
Amazing course and conditions....but
The course and conditions, as well as the staff are exceptional. The mosquitoes were almost unbearable do to dredging across the river, even with bug spray. I probably won't play there until the fall now. But, the course is so gorgeous and well maintained. Friendly staff that actually seem to care
Bring bug spray!
Amazing course and very friendly staff. One piece of advice if you play here (which I do highly recommend)…BRING BUG SPRAY. The mosquitos are really bad and will swarm all around you on certain holes. Aside from that, everything else was great! Range balls included with your round, and the range is really nice. Course was in immaculate condition and no issues with the pace of play. Overall, I liked it so much I decided to come back the next day and play again. 4.5/5 stars
Mosquitoes!
Bring the best bug spray you can find! The mosquitos will literally carry you away! The course itself was in great shape but the area around the clubhouse was being taken over by weeds. However, it did look like someone was working on them. The staff at the bar were extremely slow at the turn and it wasn’t very busy. It took nearly 20 min to get a couple sandwiches and some drinks.
Great course and conditions
I was able to pick up an early tee time at a discounted price using golf now. I don’t know what the typical Green fees are on a regular day, but I will say that the conditions of this course are immaculate, the greens are fairly difficult, which keeps it fun, and the pace of play was great! Highly recommend getting a round in!
GATORS BEWARE!!!
Had a super day here at the Club in Savannah! Course was absolutely stunning. Greens were pure and had a perfect roll. I played with my dad and we were suprised by 2 gators! We don’t get that back in England! Staff were lovely, amazing range at the pro shop if you want to get clothing or souvenirs… finished the round shooting 78 (6+) so overall had a great day out
Slowest course in planet earth
Play the front in 2 1/2 hours when we got to the Titi there were four groups waiting to tee off. When I went to ask the starter if I could my money back for the back nine since it was so backed up. The guy in the pro shop tried to give me a nine hole rain check I don’t live here and Syd. I need my money back and he refused. Would not play here again
Windy
Course was in great shape. Really windy still had fun. Had a 4some in front of us that would not let us play thru, we were a twosome. Finally skipped #10 to pass them. Played round in 3 hrs. 20 minutes. Gave 4 for amenities b/c bar/food closed at 1630.
Big Greens I have ever seen
Greens were extra large and fast, you could be on the green and have a 100 foot putt. I like fast greens, so they were right up my alley. Layout was great front is tighter than back nine. I played the Gold 6,600 yds. Only one hole did I misjudge the landing area and hit it through fairway into water hazard. It is a total risk award course. Alot of bunker at different landing points in the fairway. There are many greens that slope away from the front, so you are going to have to get up and down and one putt. The golfer, I played with stated the wind is always swirling, so half the course wind is in your face and half it is behind you. Determining what club to hit was tricky at times, but that is part of golf. Sometimes, it would be better to be second hitter on Par 3s. I will play course again.
