Wilson
The majority of the greens and almost all the tee boxes are in poor shape. Many times hard to find flat ground to tee off. Ridiculous. Has the potential to be an outstanding course. This was my first time. Would not recommend. There are plenty of better choices close by. It’s a real shame.
Great staff
Great course, very difficult from the Palmer Tee boxes. Staff is super friendly, excellent value for the money and very fun to play.
Potential to be great. But in really bad conditions.
Played for the first time with my pops. Course layout is really nice and challenging. But the course is in bad shape. Don’t even get me started with the greens So so so bad… probably not coming back ever again for the price.
Muddy swap.
Lost three balls in the middle of fairway because of underground water leaks causing muddy conditions.
California has drought conditions Brentwood golf club is wasting water. Course hasn't been mowed in weeks, cups have half inch overgrowth, dumped my clubs on the concrete at first hole because bag strap clamp was broken. Paid 60 bucks feel like I got robbed.
Lots of potential, but needs TLC, especially the greens.
Good layout and views, but disappointed with the bumpy and weed infested greens. Ranger should be more assertive about speeding up slow players.
Still one of the best courses in the East Bay
Challenging!!! Love this Course and esp the Staff! Chance is my favorite but, then again they're all amazing.
Needs a lot of work Not worth the drive or money.
If this course was well kept, it would be a great course to test your skills. Unfortunately, this was by far on of the worst maintained courses in the Bay Area. And for $84 per round, a true waste.
People were great, service pretty good.
Course conditions? Where to start. Greens in terrible shape. Possibly two were good but., but otherwise every other green had patches of weeds and sand preventing any ball from rolling straight. Some greens were fast others slow. Fairways super inconsistent. You could have 2-3 different playing conditions on one hole. Some areas severely over watered and soggy while others normal and dry. Tee boxes were terrible. Couldn’t really tee off without feeling uneven divot holes underfoot. But the worst part of this course, above everything else, were the bunkers. Hard sand and some with puddles of stagnant water. Even if you didn’t hit the sand, seeing bunkers like that make you not want to be there.
I honestly can’t recommend this course and also feel sorry for all of those residents that bought homes there for the golf and have to deal with this lack of management.
We met some great residents, but we will never go back.
Mostly Beautiful
This was my first time playing this course, a little n KS style layout going around and through a big, super hilly subdivision in Vallejo. The elevation changes were about as dramatic as I've ever played, and lots of opportunitiesto test your faith in your club lengths with shots over and around visibility barriers at the joints of the doglegs.
Many of the Fairways were quite narrow. If you have trouble with driver accuracy, like I do, put that thing away and use your fairway wood, because "rough" on this course means healthy, thick blackberry bushes! Tee boxes were in good shape, and the greens, with just a couple of exceptions, were as well. One of our foursome started the round walking with a pushcart. If you're in average shape, meaning NOT a marathon runner, swallow your pride and ride, please? Snack bar is small, and in summer everything shuts down at 5. Too bad....overall, great day on a wonderful course, with reasonable (weekday) prices.
Staff was friendly , helpful, and efficient. Foursome in front of use let our twosome play through on the first par 3 and the rest of the day was all by ourselves so pace and atmosphere was about as good as it can get. Course conditions and layout were nice. Given that the course is only 30 minutes away from Berkeley, supper convenient. Over all a good golf day and I would recommend this course for a relaxed round with friends or family that is not expensive.
Improvement Sorely needed
Tee boxes were in poor condition....no level spot in which to stand. Greens appeared to be infected as they were spotty and had, what looked like, another type of grass. We took 51/2 hours to play our round...enough said!
Greens
I don't know what to call all those small mounds that are growing all over some of the greens, but when they affect the roll of the putts, then I think something needs to be done.
My BayArea Public Fave
Play Hiddenbrooke pretty much every week. Never tire of it as a true test, because I love the layout. Every hole is a challenge in it's own way, and a treat to take on. This round, the pace was great, and the breezes were a factor, but not a big hindrance. It was a cool (for July) day, but pleasant.
Eventually the tee boxes and bunkers will be improved (I hope), though historically the greens have always been excellent...both in difficulty and condition.
But, I do now worry about the greens, as within the past few weeks, it appears a fungus is propagating on practically every green and affecting the true roll quite a bit.
I hope this can be gotten under control very soon, or things could become dire. I wish the greenskeeper all the luck in the world. My fingers are crossed.
Always good!
Course in good shape except for some bunkers with hardly any sand. Greens need some work too.
