Hiddenbrooke Golf Club

We wanted a new place to golf in Napa area that was different than the few around the city. Hiddenbrook offered a challenging course with hills, more narrow fairways and beautiful vista's.

A great day all around

Beautifull day, one of my favorite courses, great deal, course in good condition, tees need work, grest greens and to top it off git a birdie on number 2 .....

Hiddenbrooke used to be a beautiful course with a tough and demanding layout.

However the conditions aren’t very good anymore. The tee boxes are bad, the bunkers have no sand, and the greens are rock hard.

The grass is decent on the fairways but everywhere else isn’t what it used to be.

$88 on the weekends with cart is a bit overpriced right now. Closer to $60. Maybe they can add free range balls and lunch to add more value if they need to keep the price the same.

I would rather drive to San Juan Oaks or Poppy Ridge for the same price.

Been here several times. So happy that they've been working on getting their landscaping. I hope it'll return to its former glory. The staff here is Wonderful! Due to this Pandemic, there were a couple of times we had to make last minute changes because and they were always understanding, flexible and courteous. Steven is a good example of that! Oh, their CRs are always clean! Food is pretty good as well!

I've played this course for years. This past year the course has gone down hill. There is a lot of play due to the pandemic. The course is charging $90 on the weekend. Over half of the tee blocks are unplayable. When my buddy and I mentioned this to members of the staff they agreed with us, when asked what they were doing about it, we got crickets.

We played last weekend, 5 1/2 hour round, no marshals pushing people.

I hate to post this kind of review because it is a great track just needs some attention.

I have tried to give hiddenbrook the benefit of the doubt in the past but I am done playing this course. Tee boxes are horrible, bunkers unmaintained and have no sand, and the greens wildly inconsistent in terms of speed. Overall fairway conditions are average. Pace of play is brutally slow given the level of difficulty. This place has good bones and you can tell that at one time was probably very nice but unfortunately it has consistently disappointed me.

Got a $19 Hot deal on Hiddenbrooke, and it's been on my list of courses to play in the bay area.

Pros:

-The Design; Arnold Palmer really took advantage of the natural landscape and routed a fair, but challenging track. Every hole has it's own character, and flows well. Lots of elevation changes. The front 9 is gettable, while the back 9 is a wild ride with lots of challenging shots. A premium is put on making smart, creative shots, and being confident with every club in the bag. The wind also plays a huge factor.

-The scenery: Looking at the map of the course, I was expecting to play through condo canyons (i.e. like at Bodega Bay), but the course protected the houses with a layer of trees, and hills. It never felt like I was going to hit a house and the sightlines never really look directly at a home.

-The Practice Area: Grass driving range, and nice practice green was a plus. I'd advise arriving early and dialing in the green speeds.

-The Green complexes: These have been my favorite greens I've played in the bay area. Extremely challenging to read, and fast. a premium is put on a good approach shot to avoid 3 or even 4 putts.

-Course conditions: Fairways were some of the best kept i've played recently, even better than TPC Harding and Chardonnay.

Cons:

-Pace of Play: For a Wednesday lunchtime round, it was SLOOOW going. At times we were stuck behind two+ groups at a teebox (especially after the turn) and waited at hole for 15 - 20 minutes. We never saw a course Marshall. This was a shame, because it wasn't particularly busy.

-Teeboxes: The tee boxes were chewed up, which was weird, since the rest of the course was near immaculate.

I can't wait to play here again, I just hope the course Marshall is out there because 5 hour rounds really suck.

SLOW, SLOW, SLOW. This round took over 6 hours to complete and was backed up from the 1st fairway. All tee boxes were uneven and barely had any grass. Bunkers were empty and barely had any sand. Very poor value and pace.

Course is very nice, Tee boxes and traps are terrible

This course had great features. Elevated tees as well as some great downhill shots. Greens were in excellent condition with lots of undulating features. I’m looking forward to playing it again and again.

Played 14 holes in 4 hours. No marshall keeping pace of play up. Consistently waited 5-10 minutes between shots.

Challenging golf.if you’re a high index player. Easy to lose balls. Don’t play here if you’re easily frustrated.

Good course lay out. Not a good condition tee box.

Even though they always have single spot open early, it’s hard to recommend this course because of the current course conditions especially with rising green fees.

I payed $101 to play on a course with sand and dry tee boxes. I think the tee boxes had more sand than the sand traps.

Sadly due to COVID golfers taking up all the tee times, I’ll. Be back complaining about the course conditions.
