Fair
Challenging but very fair course. Receptive and true greens.
Course was in good shape. We had a very enjoyable day there.
Disappointing
I love this course but today was pretty disappointing...
$82 with punched greens (wasnt communicated ahead of time) and soggy plugged balls in the fairway several times in August is a little tough to swallow. Great course overall, challenging and visually appealing but today the price tag did not come close to what was delivered.
9 holes closed
The front 9 greens were being plugged on Monday (back 9 Friday). We had to play the back twice and groups were turning from their first nine and being made to wait while others were starting their first. Pretty inconvenient and not very well organized. I got stuck behind a group for four elderly women who seemed to enjoy watching their 50 yard drives until it was time to hit their 50 yard second shots...etc, etc. Slooowwww. The nine holes I played were beautiful and well maintained. I would definitely recommend this course when this chaos is over.
Nine holes closed
Unfortunately, they were plugging nine greens today so I had to play the same nine twice. It would have been nice to know this in advance of booking!
The layout is nice and the condition was great for the nine that I played. I may have given higher scores for condition if I were able to play all 18. I ended up playing behind a group of four elderly women who stood and admired their 50 yard shots after every swing. Pace of play was an issue when there weren’t that many players on the course.
I’ll play it again, but look forward to better conditions.
Great round!
Beautiful and imaginative course, in good shape. Very few people (but it was the 4th of July). I'm guessing it gets really windy sometimes, but the weather today was perfect. I will definitely play this again.
Great Arnold Palmer course
Nice pace of play today, done in less than four hours. Always a challenge. If you hit good shots you're rewarded, if you hit bad shots, you'll pay for it. Take some extra balls!
Great morning
Got us out early. Played 18 in 2:55 and the course looked great. Bunkers and tee boxes need some work. They did appear to be working on some tee boxes. Staff was super friendly and helpful.
Great layout
I have not played this golf course in many years; it definitely is showing its wear. The tee boxes were not level, the sand traps seemed to be neglected. I understand the golf course business is perhaps suffering; with that said, it is still difficult to see a great layout be neglected.
This course is finally getting back into condition after several years of maintenance neglect.. greens are great condition. Fairways for the most part are pretty good.. still some issues off fairways /traps etc but well worth the GolfNow price.
A Challenging But Fun Golf Course
The Hiddenbrooke Golf Course is one of the best courses in the Bay Area. The green fees are a little bit more on the expensive side so I don't play this course as often as I would want to. However, when I find some good deals, I do my best to play here with my brothers and friends.
The fairways are often narrow, and the greens offer some challenging hole locations. It's a good course to remind myself that I'm not a good golfer yet. But I can still hope.
Great course with lots of different challenges
Weather was cool and windy but the course was in great shape, greens were hard to judge the speed, seemed to be very variable. The wind made some holes very hard but that adds to the challenges on the course.
Fairways and Greens- excellent
I cannot recall the last time we played this course but it was definitely last year. Compared to its condition when we last played, it is now way better, or should I say, excellent condition...
Work in progress
Evidently they are working to improve the course so several of the normal tee boxes where closed. The tee boxes that were open were in bad shape. Many times we had to search for a flat spot for our feet. No sand in bunkers, just dirt. Greens are slow but roll fairly true.
It was a Jewel
Hiddenbrooke was once a gem of a golf course tucked away in the scenic hills outside of Vallejo Ca. The layout of the course is still great but the maintenance of the course has gone way down hill. Unless you can hit the ball in the fairway all the time you will spend to much time looking for your ball in the much to overgrown ruff. Bring your own sand for the bunkers because it is mostly hard clay. Sad that this course has been neglected especially when it is run by “Troon Golf.”
Brian!
Need some TLC
I always love this course: interesting layout and just hard enough. But in real need of some TLC: some bunkers are full of water, others rock hard. Tee boxes are uneven and barren of grass. Rough is not mowed, so really easy to lose a ball that is only slightly off the fairway. For the amount they charge, this course should be kept better than it is.
