Hiddenbrooke Golf Club

The course is in good shape. I paid very reasonably for an early tee time . I recommend the course.

It is one of the most challenging courses in the area. Every single shot required golfer’s full attention otherwise she / he will find troubles in the hazards or water. It is worthy of a professional tournament level course. I loved this golf course when it was in its prime and still love it today, hoping it gets a bit more TLCs.

However, in the past several years, the maintenance has gone to almost disrepair.

- Most bunkers are not maintained. There is NO sand in them and often are played as “ground under repair”.

- Most of the tee boxes are chewed up, crowned, uneven.

- the greens are spotty with different kind of grasses, some are just bare.

Many golfers are skipping this venue due to its lack of maintenance. Because some feel disrespected.

I hope that management / owner can pay some attention to the minimum maintenance and bring the course back to its deserving winning reputation.

Troon took over course management several months ago and there are definite signs of improvement. Bunkers (at least the ones I visited) had sand in them, as opposed to previous rounds where it was like hitting off of clay. The rough was actually manageable and not left at U.S. Open depths. Took a chance playing on a holiday, but the pace was good and we (a threesome) were allowed to play through on the turn. Oh, yeah...getting birdie on the 18th always leaves me in a good mood!

First Tee included 3 deer and a great PAR. This is a fun course, like 2 different 9's. Front is in the valley and back 9 is on the top of the hills. There is one of everything in on this course. Have fun but you may need extra balls.

Tee boxes could use some work. Fairways and Greens are excellent. Greens are fast, Bunkers are currently getting attention some have been redone and have been filled with new fluffy sand

Great overall experience this week at Hiddenbrooke. Played with my Dad, and had a blast. For mid-winter the course looked great, fairways were awesome, and the greens rolled true. Highly recommend this course.

Course is in great shape. Greens are hard and fast. It was windy the day we played which made it tougher.

Fantastic layout and views snaking through hills and canyons. Really good course and fun to play. Many of the greens, bunkers and some tee boxes could use attention to match the quality of the layout and location. Plus they charge as much as other comparable courses in the area that have superior hazards and greens. Many bunkers were more rock than sand. Come on Hiddenbrooke sand doesn’t cost that much. Will I return? Yes!

The course has been as well as I could remember. Greens are mostly good but can still be better. Tee boxes are ripped up for the most part but are not a problem. Still had an enjoyable round.

I like the course lay out, it’s challenging but not hard. It’s fun and enjoyable to play with.

This is a beautiful course meandering through a natural valley. Rolling fairways, undulating greens, well maintained with plenty of opportunities for the creative golfer to gamble between risk and reward. It's all about ball placement here. Give it a try!!

Decided to tee off at Hiddenbrooke after not having played it since the mid-2000's and the course has fallen off a cliff. Had a tee time at 1:33pm, but didn't tee off until well after 2:30pm because a) they had two tournaments that day and were behind and b) they ran out of carts so we had to wait for one. After teeing off, the pace was extremely slow (1-2 groups waiting on tee boxes) that we couldn't finish our round and had to head on in after the 15th hole. I'm assuming the marshal(s) were busy trying to get the tournaments going. I wish their staff or GolfNow could let us know if and how many tournaments are being played that day and the overall handicap of the people playing in these tournaments...

Secondly, the course conditions were nowhere near what I remembered playing when I was a kid. Growing up in Vallejo, this golf course was a premiere golf course hosting many LPGA tour events, but now, I'm surprised its up and running. Many bunkers around the greens had no sand and the greens were very patchy and slow. It's such a shame no investing has gone into this Arnold Palmer golf course. The layout is amazing, but playing golf here is not.

Last time I played here was in the late 90s. Changed so much since. While the staff are friendly. Pace of play too slow it’s hard to stay warm and in good rthym. Although the greens are in decent conditions grounds areound the greens are soggy with cart tire tracks. Some of the fairways are also too wet. This asides would have been good challenging great value course to play.

Overall though, I love the layout of the course and more than half of the holes have character.

Hoping that Troon will be able to get this course back to the way it was at the beginning. At that time it rated 5 stars, across the board.

Follow up to a 4 star review a few months back: The tee boxes are improved and flatter...nice work. I have played Black or Blue tees for the entire year and seen about Six rounds this year here.

The GREENS WERE FABULOUS! Tour quality and fast. They have been good all year...today they were a perfect 10. At least running 12 on stimpmeter.

There are still some dry spots on the course with grass nearby, and some overly wet spots near greens where ball plugs, that's an easy fix. Course looks great and plays tough right now. Rough and sand looks good too in most spots, they are not there to be easy. Any complaints about the course are not warranted at this time. I shot rounds of 73, 71, 70, and 68 here this year(had it to 6 under at one point thru 16). Had a tough time breaking 80 today! Perfect weather and a perfect track once again. Thanks.

Cant get enough of this course, love the layouts and the challenges.
