Woodley Lakes Golf Course

Played here many times before. Caught a twilight 9 holes and the greens were the best I can remember them being. Rolled great and actually on the fast side for this place. I hope they can keep them like this. The round was really enjoyable.

Picture yourself on an airplane runway. Now cover that runway in patchy grass, sprinkle in a lot of dirt, and then dig a few holes and fill ‘em with more dirt (and rocks) - you’re now at Woodley “Lakes”. Each hole is more boring than the last and if you’re looking for something more exciting, have your grandmother take you for a ride down Mulholland - it’s sure to have infinitely more turns and elevation changes than Woodley could ever imagine. It’s as if they took a plain from Wisconsin, turned the heat up to 11 l, and hit alt-delete on amenities. 18 holes and 0 glizzies is the only math you need to know to avoid yourself the sad Sunday morning I just experienced. Great rate of play.

To be fair, we played on a Saturday morning, and that was a lot of the aggravation. Had to wait a few minutes at most of the holes. Overall took about 5 hours. Rough is really rough. Lost two balls because I was off the fairway by a few yards. Gone in the tall grass and weeds. Lots of dirt patches on the fairways. Greens in okay shape. Saturday is also really noisy. It’s right next to an airport and small planes were landing and circling ALL THE TIME. Just not a peaceful experience.

But nice driving range and the ball machine works, unlike Rancho.

TL;DR - fine if you’re a solid player and can stay on the fairways, and if you don’t mind a lot of noise and goose poop. So much goose poop.

It’s a muni so you can’t expect too much, that being said I actually really like the course. It has very wide and flat fairways, so it’s great for beginners.

The range and practice facilities are pretty great too.

Biggest gripe: ZERO amenities. Need water? Need beer? Need a hotdog? Well you’re SOL bc the pro shop and restaurant are vacant. On weekends there’s often a food truck but that’s all.

Definitely my go to course here in the valley you get your money worth.

Course a Bit Dry in some spots Muddy in Others.. good course if you wanna fine tune your game..
