Fairways and greens in great shape
Course for being new in excellent shape. I understand course still being built so no real clubhouse or 19th hole available. Would play again
Best course in the area without amenities
Golf course is in great condition and was an awesome day paired up with Josh and Greg.. We had a great time..Cart girl was awesome and came around at least 3 times during our round…Kudos to Kelly
New Course
Played Wellen Park for the first time on the 17th. I was very surprised at how nice the course was. It was well maintained, also the layout was great. The greens were hard, but if you played them for that you were fine. Really enjoyed playing there, as did my playing companions. Will definitely play it again.
Course conditions excellent!
Nice course layout! Greens were true and very good condition! Pace of play allowed us to finish in less than four hours! Would suggest drinking water at a few holes! Especially if temperatures rise! Would definitely play again at this rate! Great value!
Same as the other reviews.
Course is great. Better than most in the area. I thought it was fairly easy. Not a lot of torture holes. Around the course are homes being built so it’s not too picturesque, but will be. Great staff, practical range. Only negative was my Garmin watch and other golf apps don’t recognize the course so bring a range finder. The carts have GPS but I swear they were read a little long I flew a couple greens. The GolfNow off season price of $49 is a good deal. In season over $100, I’d never pay
Top 10
IMO. only! This is a top of the line golf course in great condition. Greens are a little difficult to hold, maybe after first punching the greens they will get better..Greens are very good to putt on and run true.. Hole 16 looks a little like an afterthought, but gives you options. Was able to get a decent deal through GolfNow, and will be looking forward to playing here more..Kudos to the staff all around..
Great conditions
I enjoyed playing here. Excellent conditions, generous fairways and great greens to putt on. The staff handled everything very well. Fun place to play
Nice course
Played here 1st time. Wide fairways and greens ran true. Course will improve as it matures. Played mid afternoon, with good price .
Very nice course
Great new course to play at a reasonable price. Still a lot of construction around the course but doesn’t affect your play. Only issue was some of the fairway were thin probably from lack of rain. I will return.
Course is new and greens are very hard. They haven''t had to time to soften up and hold the ball on approach shots.
Slow but memorable
This was probably my 6th time playing Wellen and it was the first time the pace of play was slow. Seems that all of the private courses have added WellenPark to their reciprocal list and they think they also own this course. Played behind a group of 4 and we were a twosome. At no time we’re we offered to play ahead. There were at times that they hit 8-10 strokes to reach a par 4. Very hard to even watch.
A ranger would come in handy to eleviate these problems. The staff is always incredible, Kelly is awesome as the cart attendant. The course is in perfect shape and the greens are fast and true. Keep up the good work.
Staff so friendly course not
The staff are so friendly and inviting here. The course not so much. The layout is very poor and not challenging. But the saving grace is high quality practice area that i would pay to use so I go for the range more then the course. Course seems to be an after thought to the community layout.
Very fun course
Very fun and in my opinion unique for the area, not to many flat areas lots of hills and bunkers. Great shape!
Very nice
I played the course on three occasions over the past week and I can tell you a few things. First it is hard to find, as most GPS systems don't have it listed or they route you through parts of the neighborhood that are not complete. Found google maps to be better than my vehicle gps. The course opened about 6-8 weeks ago and it is in great condition the greens roll true and are fairly fast. On a windy day the course becomes much tougher as there is only a few houses built around it. pace of play was great in the mornings, but can get very slow in the afternoons. I would highly recommend playing it now because in a few years as more houses are built, it will become very crowded and I suspect a lot more expensive. At this time the clubhouse is in a trailer and as such there are few choices for food although they have plenty of drinks and a free ice and water machine. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I will definitely play again.
Good and bad, kinda boring
The good: it’s brand new so it’s in beautiful condition and it’s one of the nicer courses you can play for $50. The bad: very poor design and layout. Has two 90 degree dogleg par 4’s and a horseshoe shaped par 5. You can get away with one of those per 18 holes, but not all three. One of those par 4’s you have to hit over trees and carry 205 to land it in the fairway but 220 puts you in the hazard, or lay up left and have 180 to the green. Silly stuff. Weird routing on some of the fairways where good tee shots disappear into penalty areas. Totally forgettable design. It’s been a while since I’ve played a newer course and there wasn’t one memorable hole. If you’re a 10 handicap or better this will be boring golf. It’s like they added a course to a development as an afterthought and had to wedge holes into peoples yards to make it work. Many of the holes you have to drive way back to the tee boxes from the cart path routing. On busy days you’re going to be pulling up blind, right into people teeing off. I don’t know, I just didn’t dig it and wouldn’t play it again. I need something with a little more pizzazz. 25 handicaps will probably love it.
