Wellen Park Golf & Country Club

This was my second time out. Course was in great condition. The back tees will provide a fair challenge on most holes. The forward tees provide the occasional golfer a chance to par or birdie most of the time.

Course was in great condition. Greens fast and smooth , construction all around but on the course it’s was great. Only thing I would say was so so is the quality of the carts. Gas powered older cart. But staff was excellent and helpful. I will be back

Great course, I think they need to adjust the tees. somewhere around 6500 yards would be good. #1 tee is too long and #2 tee is too short

My group and I had a great round as usual at wellen we will be playing again in November when we all return for the season every one was great there from the bag drop to check out a lot of new England hospitality there

Range and staff very good. Layout not so much. The 2 tee box plays 6277, the 3 plays 5600+ Need something in between, combo tee? I played the 2’s. 3 par threes were 180+ yards, while 2 par 4’s under 300. Some par 4’ under 350. Par 5’s not challenging or long at all. Feel’s like the golf course was an after thought to let’s layout the houses and see what’s left. Some in my group would have hit several houses planned for future development. Course new so in great condition, with expected limited if any amenities. They do have a beverage cart on the course.

Looks like a good course once the surrounding area is more developed as now in the land moving/ treating phase.

Wellen Park is a terrific course, and in excellent condition. Some of the toughest tough greens around! Fun to play and great pace. The staff is friendly and helpful. A must play!

First time playing Wellen Park today. Overall very dissappointing track.. The main issues were:

1 - speed of greens was dreadfully slow. Overnight rain meant greens had not been cut in the am, but even so this was ridiculous. Played like greens had not been cut or rolled for 2-3 day.

2 - malfunctioning golf carts.. Overnight rains meant cart path only. However our cart would not move forward on cart path for last 8 holes & we had to drive in reverse. Really??

3 - Cart GPS was not consistent with range finder sightings. Error was often >10+ yds on 100 yds.

4 - Poor course layout & sight lines. . Several doglegs are ridiculously short: Example 5th hole - 448 yd par 5 on tee & card while cart gps indicated 285 yds. All of our group had < Wedge to green for 2nd shot. Multiple instances of similar issues.

5 - makeshift clubhouse & minimal amenities. Course has been open for 8 weeks, using a trailer as temporary club house at the moment.

New course. Great layout, some challenging holes and the green roll well. Had a great time, will play here again.

Golf course is in fantastic condition, pace of play was outstanding..As a single was paired up with another single.. Some how we felt we had the course to ourselves.. we played in 3 hours taking our time…Enjoyed our round and definitely will return… Staff was great!

Being a golf course that opened a couple of months ago, the fairways and tee boxes are excellent. The green however are not. The mowing is inconsistent leaving the green speeds inconsistent. There is also a very prevalent grain that can move putts uphill. If maintenance practices improve then the course will be much better rated. In the mean time, if you can accept the frustration of putting on greens that score 6.5/10 on my scale, then you should enjoy your round.

The course is maturing very nicely. The greens have to be the best around. If you miss the putt don’t blame the green “you” missed it. The fairways are perfection a perfect lie if your in the short grass. From the bag drop guys, Don the starter and Kelly the friendliest cart person in Sarasota county this course is a must play.

This course is in the middle of the construction site. It is very hot with few trees and there is a trailer for the office. When the trees grow and weather cools it will be a nice course. Course layout is very good, greens and condition of course s great. Driving range was wonderful.
