Already Booked Another Round
Played WP in the afternoon. It was a bit windy but definitely manageable. The pace of play was a little funky with a few holes creating a bottle neck but we didn't have to wait too long. I've never played a new course so I didn't really know what to expect. Overall it was a fun but challenging layout and I can't wait to go back!
Great new course
Course was only open for 6 weeks when I played, and it was in great shape. Awesome practice areas. Greens were pure and quick. Staff was amazing as well. 110 Dan and Marie were two of the nicest people I came across during my week in the area. Pace slowed down on the back 9, but that’s expected when its 85 degrees during the week of spring break. I gave off-course amenities a 3 because the course is new so nothing was up and running yet, but it sounds like they have great plans for the place. Can’t wait to come back.
Very friendly
Everyone was extremely friendly and accommodating. Course has a lot of dog lefts dog rights.
Great staff. Brand new course and will get even better with age. Firm tee boxes and greens. Good layout and multiple tee boxes for all range of golfers. Bring down the price and attract more play. But I would recommend this course for sure. I will be back.
Great New Course
I was dying to play this new course, but could not afford their normal rate. Found a great deal on Golf Now and was not dissapointed. The course is in great shape for a new course and we all loved the course and layout. Staff was great, the club house has not been built so they are operating out of a trailer and portable toilets but we knew this going in. Going back next week to try it again!
Fun new track
When the amenities get completed, this is going to be a spectacular place to play around of golf. Other than a couple of Teebox locations, I thought the course was well designed and in great condition.
Course is still fairly new and the greens were extremely hard. For a high handicap it was impossible to hold the green from any distance. Playing to the front the green was a must. Lots of construction in and around the subdivision.
Luckily the course has GPS on carts. My Garmin watch did not have this course on satellite feed.
Fast greens
Greens are a bit hard to hold could use more watering tee boxes hard get tees in ground.
Time we'll spent
The only negative was 13 to 17 mph wind. Yes this is a new course but enjoyed the challenge. The greens are fast and fairways were nice. You can choose your fun with 5 sets of tees. Two years from now this will be totally different when the trees fill in and all homes are built. I can't wait !
Tee's need to be adjusted
Tee box are too short and too long for the average player. 5592 yards to over 6300. The need to add a set of tees or adjust current ones around 6000 for the average player! Course is great but starting to dry! Greens are hard as expected and fast
Honest and Trustworthy Review
Being a semi-professional golfer who enjoys the competitive side of the sport. Wellen park was more than enjoyable and challenging for the competitive player. The course itself being beautifully designed for various players and skill levels. On the particular day that I played, like many highly ranked championship golf courses, it was firm. The fairways were cut very tight (which is a massively underrated) the tee boxes were all level & well manicured similar to fairway lies. The greens were immaculate. Being very firm, but rolling true and quick. My guess would be about 10-10.5, with the potential to be much faster. All in all, the course itself was a great experience for any golfer of any level to enjoy.
There is something to be said about a golf course that understands the importance of practice facilities. Wellen is a great example of that, having an aqua range of well kept fairway grass, a very true & comparable practice putting green and a short game/ chipping green as well. While I personally did not use the chipping green, I can only assume that it was kept to a similar standard to the putting green.
The bag drop guys were friendly and helpful when I arrived. The pro shop staff were welcoming and informative about the questions I had about the course, the ranger stationed at the range was diligent about maintaining player tee times, and luckily I had to pleasure to met the head pro who was a class act. It’s great to see a great golf course, managed well by friendly people. I am very excited to see what comes of this course in the next handful of years when construction is further along of the development and the course gains more “country club” amenities.
will absolutely be returning to play soon.
A new course
This is a really nice course. A few really interesting holes and no funny stuff. We will play again here next week. Expensive but kinda worth it.
